Anyone Know Where to Buy some Acrylic?

I was looking at doing a cue and using some acrylic for bands like on the old style Balabushka and others of that period. Most cues I see now are using a dull acrylic which is not really what I am looking for. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. :)

looks like there are several kinds of acrylic here
uv resistant tubes http://www.mcmaster.com/#acrylic/=eyfubt

Thanks bud, it looks like I would need to get the solid rods as they are the only ones in color I saw, pretty pricey, would a 2 inch diameter be the right size? I am wondering if the cues built in the old style were solid rods or tubes for those bands? I also do not know if they will have that metallic look like this one has.

A buddy of mine lives in Corvallis, Oregon and he works for an

acrylic and plastics company. They make signs and cabinets for lots of the large companies, including clean-room environment cabinets for Hewlett-Packard. If you do a search in Corvallis, Or. for 'Discovery Plastics' call them and ask about your needs and if they dont have it in stock, I'm sure they can fabricate something.

Good luck and hope this helps out.

Thanks bud, might pick up a few of them, some look okay, the others look kind of flat in color but still very nice and priced right too. Excited to have a cue with some nice acrylic in it. :)

Brent that stuff looks cool. Looks like the same stuff the local bowling pro shop would use for replugging a ball.
I like it.

Check out the company gevacril they make a metallic baby blue acrylic rods...I'm having steve klein do me a bushka tribute of the cue you posted I just posted about this cue a week ago and the awesome leather wrap job.

Hi, did you see any pictures of it?, could not find any on the site.

Let me save you guys some time lol... I looked into this stuff for about a year. Talked to all the plastics manufacturers. The Gevacril site is metallic acrylic made by Futurplas in Canada. And they do not make the diameter you would need in the blue. To do so was like 4 to 5K worth of plastic for them to run production on it. But don't bother, I received samples of it and it does not match George's acrylic. No where close. George's stuff puts that stuff to shame.
I got lucky and found the original plastic George used, so I luckily got to quit looking.

The ONLY way to get that blue would be (like me) find the old original stuff, or have a company custom make it, and the order would have to be so large/costly it is not conceivable for one person to order it. But if you want to proceed on getting it custom made I can give you a good company I found who said they would do it.

But I can tell you, George's metallic acrylic is the sh**... It is awesome to be a plastic. When buffed it is almost like a mirror finish. And it is not a pearl like the Atlas pearl rods. Can't wait to see it in my cue.

This is what I got, not the same as the stuff that George used by any means and I have looked all over for it but these will be cool in some pool cues for sure. I look forward to seeing the cue with Georges old stuff in it, its too bad you did not have some extra. :)

This is the original stuff from the 60s 70s. This is before being buffed out, but you can tell it has a very high metallic sheen to it even before polishing out. And you can also notice there is no pearl swirls in it. As the saying goes, they don't make things like they used to. The best way to describe it to modern stuff would be red metallic foil but in a machinable plastic form.

I wished I had a whole truckload of it
