Anyone notice all the trouble they are having racking?

I watched the WPS this past week also a match in China. Guys were having a hard time getting a tight rack.. In China the officials could not get a decent rack in a decent amount of time.

What's up with that?

Didn't notice if there was a sponsor , Both the WPS racks and the ones in the Chinese tournament looked the same, on YouTube anyway. I was watching a re run last night where Bustamonte was getting so frustrated he tossed some balls on the table and walked off for a few..While he was away an official or ref gave it a try. Didn't look like he did any better. It seemed like it took the guys forever to rack in both venues. Seems like the sides of the racks are not as tall as others I have seen. I don't know.

Unless you have picture perfect equipment you're simply not going to get a picture perfect rack. And even then you might not get a perfect rack without a lot of effort.

Yes I understand that but,

I watch 2-3 matches a night on You tube for my training and entertainment. I just notice this recently. It's these new looking racks their using.

Might not be the rack could be issues with the foot Spot ? I just never understood why those spots form dimples after a while.

You guys are missing the point. Two venues, numerous matches, they weren't nit picking they just were having a hard time getting a decent rack..

I'm not looking for an answer , just wondering if anyone noticed. Me I think it was thew racks.

My solution would be to "train the table", then draw an outline around the rack so the balls are racked in the same spot.

Place the rack in the racking area, then load the rack. DO NOT load the rack, then slide it into place.

The table training process is really all you need. The Sardo comes with a template and a dropper. The template goes where the rack goes. It has small holes in it where the balls would go (if the template weren't there). You put a drop of water in each of the holes, then tap a ball into the template hole. This is what "trains" the table - the creation of small divots. As others have said, you can use this technique without some Darth Vader contraption. The big problem is that given enough time, the small divots become big divots, and the balls won't freeze anymore. The fix for that? Buy new cloth, cause it's almost impossible to "retrain" the table. Another problem is that if a corner ball starts to go on the break with a Sardo rack, it's always going to go. Good for the breaker, not good for the game.

For long term use, the divot growth could be a drawback, but I don't see that happening over the course of a tournament.

you got it right Johnny

Accu - rack template from Outsville.com
Problem solved.

Now and then, assuming fairly new cloth with no worn dimples, wipe a damp cloth over the racking area, outwards. You'd be surprised how much that improves the racking. It's just a combination of getting rid of dirt, as well as a little tightening of the cloth with a bit of moisture, then drying.

You'd be surprised how many table troubles can be taken care of with a damp cloth.

All the best,
WW

Every hard break format game in the entire freaking world should use a template rack, imo!!!! Get rid of all the aggravation of getting a tight rack. ESPECIALLY for any recorded/streamed matches where us viewers have to put up with watching ppl rack for 3 min.

The template racks are such a superior product. Its nuts ANY tournaments are still using any of the triangle type racks. Even the $150 delta 13's can't touch a template rack, unless the balls are brand new out of the box and the cloth was installed 5 min prior.

Finally someone gets it:wink: Thanks for reading my post before responding.lol

If we're talking about the same even then for some reason this year they stopped using the Magic Rack.
They used it last year.
Don't know why but I'm assuming money enters the picture at some point.

Smart guys!

Just reading this thread taught me some new stuff on how to keep the balls racking tight!

I have seen a few instances at last year's US Open where they had to change the template rack so what does that tell you ?
