I have this Joss model if you are interested....it's a 2003 model....description is:

The butt of the J4300 features notched diamond shaped Holly inlaid into an elongated oval Ebony veneer design with dots at the points. The Ebony is further set into Figured Maple veneer inlays.The center of the butt inlay design is comprised of two sets of black/white/black rings surrounding a broad Cocobolo ring. Four Cocobolo points inlaid with notched diamond shaped Holly inlaid into oval shaped Ebony veneers complete the Birdseye Maple forearm....original shaft is warped....will sell butt only for $250....or will sell with lucasi hybrid(no emblem) shaft for 350....butt does not have silver ring...shaft does...shaft specs: 12.75mm...tip is moori medium..unsure of ferrule material....shaft and butt are both straight...if you want pics please PM email address and will send them to you
 
always recommend joss cues

i've had two, still have one. make that three. regret letting the others go. i have ALWAYS liked JOSS cues. always. always. i've shot with several. get dialed in to the hit and you are off to the races(at whatever speed you have). i like the standard diameter(13.25mm or so). i don't need anymore cues but a joss made brunswick is in the offing and i will try to steal it for $50(his pricing, not mine!)if the guys doesn't come to his senses. lol.
 
I have 2 joss cues one was $590, and the other was $170. They both play about the same, a firm crisp hit. I recently purchased a Schon and it is my main player now. But for the money joss are great cues.
 
I ran across an envelope that Joss had sent me about fifteen years ago. It has some pictures of Joss cues and their prices. If any of you would like it, I would be happy to send it out to you.

Nice choice! I've always loved highly-figured wood like cocobolo, bacote, etc. And this is the main theme of this particular cue! I'm sure you're going to love it -- again, nice choice!

i cant see how you would not be happy with this cue. i have two joss cues. one sneaky pete and another with a stainless joint. my wife also has a joss sneaky pete. all three play great. they were all made around 1990. i have also shot with newer models that played great too. shaft dia. is for sure personal preference. imo some of, if not the best bang for the buck.
 
I have a joss sneaky pete with a predator 314 shaft - it plays well - but don't really use it that much as for joss cues I have heard they are well made - as to 12.75 vs 13mm it is a matter of personal preference . Some players play well with 12.75 , 12.00 , 11.75,
13.00, 13.24, 13.50 .
 
That is a real nice cue. I am a big fan of Cocobolo.
Just a word of advice from an old guy that has been around a lot of pool rooms. That cue has has a lot of eye candy and a lot of people will know it is not a toy. So keep a good eye on it. If i am alone just hitting balls i take my cue to the bathroom and outside when i smoke.My cue only cost me $225 but it is mine.

Although one of these days I'd love to get my hands on one of the cues signed by Newman and Cruise after the movie came out....
And everyone used to think that was a Balabushka....:D

Looks like a great cue!

As pretty much everyone has said: this will play well for you.

Made in USA is an important detail in this particular economy, and I believe that Joss and also Viking make a very nice playing cue at a reasonable price point and both are USA made. I feel that Joss is the more 'prestigious' brand of the two, but both are quality instruments that get the job done.

Basically, you pay as much as you want for nice wood, inlays etc. and KNOW it will play well in both cases.
