Anyone tried an Instroke Geo case?

Just wanted to get some feedback before i buy one. They are a great price and seem like they would be perfect for those of us that don't want to haul our more expensive cases into smokey pool rooms. If anyone has had one please give a short review.

Here's a short review: The material looks exactly like "reconstituted leather," which is what it is, and looks horrid with a ghastly sheen under light. Otherwise it's the same interior as any instroke (great choice if you care about protection). If you're set on a budget instroke, I vastly prefer the look and feel of their vinyl Premier series. It's not leather, but it's a high quality vinyl, and I'd take that any day over reconstituted anything.

Thanks for the reply Buddha. I'm looking for a cheap case to carry into pool rooms because my saddle instroke is starting to smell like smoke. I really appreciate the review. I'll go with one of their vinyl cases instead.

Look into the basic rugged cases from jbcases.com

I'm getting mine next week, hopefully.

The most bullet proof case ever made (save zero haliburton I guess) is another of John Barton's creation: the old predator 2x4 (not the new "Black", which I think is a horrible case). It's got a thick PVC shell AND individual PVC tubes...weighs a ton, but when I'm sticking a case into luggage that's the one I go with.

nice.

i got mine back in november and I told the wife I wouldnt use it until christmas. loving it so far.

The Instroke GEO is nice, but the Instroke Premier will hold up better, and looks just like leather.... I use that case for certain bars cause it does NOT draw attention to the "nice" cues inside :)

Would you guys prefer the jb rugged or the vinyl instroke?

I think they offer different kinds of protection for your cues. The JB rugged case has the ultrapad interior, so your cues are cradled gently and there's no rattling whatsoever.

The Premier, like other Instroke cases, use individual PVC tubes covered in fabric (with a bit of soft padding), so there's a tiny bit of movement (no rattling like Whitten or Guiseppe, but there's a bit of movement compared to the Rugged case).

I think JB uses a thin PVC shell for the body of the Rugged case, so there's some protection against crushing. The Instrokes' individual PVC tubes probably offer more substantial protection against crushing.

I think it comes down to the exterior. The Premier's vinyl is bulletproof, I mean it looks great and it's THICK. The Rugged has a nylon exterior, which is obviously durable but, as any fabric, might not fare well being scraped against sharp edges or caught on nails etc.

You probably can't go wrong with either choice. Honestly, for a bar case, the new Sterling basic cases that Mr. Vmax is selling on AZB for under a bill is more than adequate. That has JB's organic rebound interior.

Yeah that's a great deal. Especially for what i need. Now I've just gotta get the smoke smell out if the leather on my instroke saddle 3x5, any suggestions other than febreze?

What is reconstituted leather. The reason I ask is that the piece of leather that held the lid onto my Sterling case ripped. I had it replaced with a thick piece of leather.

The piece that tore actually looked like thin pieces of card board or paper laminated together. Pretty much what it felt like as well.

Other than that, I like my Sterling case just fine.

To answer your question re my preference, I would take a JB Nylon over an Instroke vinyl any time.

You could take that traveling with you, anywhere for that matter and you wouldn't have to worry about scuffs or scraps.
Last you a life time.

You know, for 60-90 bucks...you really can't go wrong.

They're great cases for storing cues imo, but not so much for carrying cues any distance with that handle/strap setup that sometimes is off balanced depending on how you load your cues, or what you keep in the pockets. The flimsy handle tends to bunch up on your hand under heavy loads. The Wave case (also by Sterling) is a bit more, but has a much better handle and backpack-style dual straps.

Maniac (has two different Wave cases and likes them both)

Yes, the wave cases are nicer, esp if you're traveling further than from your car to the bar. But in terms of protection, they are the same.

I must say that I also have a wave > 2x3 and this case is lighter when its full then most cases are empty.
This is the reason I chose it. This case is my traveling case and must only weigh about two pounds empty.
Plenty of storage with a jump butt pocket. Its a little tricky to load at first but that's not a big deal for me....a good trade off for small and lite weight.

I have been using an Instroke Geo (black/black) 3x7 for 9 years and it is the best case I have ever owned (I've had: It's George, Whitten, Silver Fox, Bentely, Porper, GTF, and more!).

Let me know if you are ready to purchase & I will take care if you.
