If anyone on here is planning on being in NYC Oct 10-15 for TAR 19 Mika vs Shane and is looking for cost effective accomodations let me know. We have found a nice hotel just outside of Manhattan that is only a 10 minute subway ride from Amsterdam Billiards.

We have stayed here before when in NYC and it is a nice hotel.

Basically anyone that doesn't mind sharing a room can stay for $50 per night in NYC for this great match.

We are going to be on the road for the better part of 3 weeks so we are looking to save wherever possible.

Message either myself or Nathan Dumoulin if you are interested in staying with the Runout Media Team.

Dave...Does that include your own bed (not a rollaway or cot)? Do they charge for parking? Name of hotel? Does it have to be for all 5 nights? PM me if you'd prefer to keep the info private.

Scott,

Not sure if Dave responded to you already, but here's a bit of info.

It's the Howard Johnson hotel, just across the Queensboro bridge, and only 7 subway stops from the pool hall. We stayed there before when visiting Mika, and the room has two queen size beds, is elegantly furnished, and has a really nice bathroom. As far as I'm concerned, it's basically a $180+ room for $120 or so. It also has free indoor parking that is monitored by surveillance. Since were driving there and parking is too expensive in Manhattan, this is the ideal place to be when considering cost and quality.

Dave and I are total bums and will either share a bed, or will alternate sleeping on the floor. The second queen size bed is reserved for whomever decides to stay with us.

You're more than welcome Scott. We may have had our occasional disagreements on the forum, but I have the utmost respect for you.

lol nice.

Believe it or not, but we're actually both huge Shane fans. Being friends with Mika trumps that, but we're both interested in seeing a really close match.

Don't forget to mention its the honeymoon suite and there is a heart shaped hot tube and mirrors on the ceiling. Huge selling points!

Staying in Queens means you're a subway ride away from Masters, a poolhall which is open 24/7.

You can find street parking near Amsterdam Billiards. That neighborhood is still zoned as residential, so there are no parking from 9 AM to 10:30 AM for street cleaning. Find a spot where the street cleaning truck came through and camp out in the car until 10:30AM, then you're good park for the entire day.

sounds like a couple of you guys are going there... is this in a business capacity or leisure? In other words, is the PPV going to have mutliple cameras and cameramen like the Open or whatever it was you guys collabarated on last time?

I'd love to go, man what a trip it would be. Too bad I'm tied down by things like a job, a wife, and responsibilites. And the fact that I'm 1,500 miles away from NYC. I hope whomever shacks up with you guys has a great time!

Thanks for the advice. Each days action starts just after dinner time, so hopefully it will be easy to find a parking spot during this time. Any ideas what it costs to park on the street?

Both Dave and I are going for business, however we will not be working for TAR. Justin has his own plans for the stream, and will be using entirely his own equipment this time. He's a friend and I'll be more than happy to lend an occasional hand while I'm there, but I will mainly be preoccupied with my own affairs.

On the Avenues, the meters are only one hour parking but most of the streets have 2 hour meters located at either ends of the block. I know 11th does and the meters near 3rd are often available at 5 on weekdays. You dont have to pay after 7pm at the meters so if you get a 2 hour meter at 5, put in $2.50 or $3 whatever- it will carry you to 7pm when you are good for the rest of the night.

The Mayor recently raised the parking meters rates, its now $2.50 per hour (fifty cents for every twelve minutes). There are 1 and 2 hour meters. The 2 hour meters are usually on the numbered streets, and the 1 hour meters on the busier avenues. You have to feed the meters up until 7 PM, after that's free to park.

Thanks for the info guys.

I thought about it a bit, and realized that both Dave and I will probably be drinking consistently each night. You know, for business reasons. lol

<-- Clearly hard at work in my avatar.

Better to just take the subway and keep it safe.

Good choice for staying outside of manhattan. You could walk to masters from there, very convenient. If you guys are low on funds, I am willing to donate free use of my table.

Good choice. Especially, since, NYC is hard up for cash, right now. The cops will hit you with just about anything. Also, NYC was confiscating your car if you are busted and convicted for DUI. That's right, KEEPING your car and auctioning it off. I dunno if the city is still doing that, but it raised quite a stink.

A decision to allow Mika fans to room with you two, would simply perpetuate the "mob" mentality and then you guys would be just be hunting Van Boening fans on the subway during your stay in NYC and that could result in a timeout for all concerned. :D

Still looking if interested......

Thanks for all your help with parking etc....

Ok so to answer some of the questions.....

1. You will have your own Queen size bed.
2. As far as I know there isn't a hot tub ..... even heart shaped (cleary)
3. We will be "working" but not directly with TAR.... but will be willing to lend a hand if needed.
4. We will most likely be out pretty late, and enjoy a couple of adult beverages i'm sure.
5. We will have video equipment with us, but you will not be expected to have to lug it around.
6. It will be a good opportunity to meet some players and other people in the industry that we hang out ( if you have not already)
7. We would prefer someone for the whole time 10-15th but it is not necessary.

Spot is still open

Please Reply to this thread or PM myself or Nathan Dumoulin if you are interested.

Thanks,

Dave
