WTF. i've run into guys like that before. lot more of them in the barbox scene though. they swear up and down because they can pocket a few balls that they're as good as everyone else. you should have tried to knock his f*ing teeth in.

you are welcome:wink:

i dont like pi$$ing matches either

i dont think this incident would have happened if you had not sharked him after you were down 2-0.

i commend you both for showing restraint and continuing the match without further incident.

how would i have handled it differently ? kept my mouth shut when he was attempting to break.

here is a synopsis from what i have gathered from your own posts.

you are playing a match for vegas against a team that is drinking

your opponent is obviously not drunk because he has someone as good as you say you are down 2-0.

upon his attempt to break in the 3rd game you shark him by asking him to bet on the outcome of the match . he and his teamates get pissed at your unsportsmanship conduct and threaten to kick your a$$ (remember this aint no low level weekly match, this is for vega$ !!! )

he loses the 3rd game after you have got him sharked getting him out of his zone and you take over from there and win the match. i gotta commend your opponent here for remaining quiet the rest of the match after that stunt you pulled.

after the match when you go to shake his hand he smacks you for costing him a trip to vegas .

did i miss anything ?

good luck in vegas

Well jeez your post isn't snarky at all!! Christ guys like you have no ability to comprehend anything do you?

The guy was no angel the whole 14 weeks okay. He started in that day with his BS, so I put him in his place period. And my asking him to "Bet from here" wasn't sharking it's where we were.

How long do you allow a man to disrespect you and try to be the boss before you push back? Do you ever play people for significant money and have them pulling moves? You just let it continue? No you don't, because it boils down to disrespect and real competitiors don't need BS moves to win. You either have the goods or you don't, period.

He lost 7 straight because he never saw another makable shot, all he did after his dry break in rack #3 was spend his time either sitting, racking or kicking.

Why he hit me I can't say, nor do I care. I am glad he cost himself the trip he had aready won to Vegas for his team event. He never had a chance at the Masters event, that was for my team from day one, it was never in doubt for me.

Wish I had that option, but I have a day job and mouths to feed. I'll hurt him worse in the long run.

Good call on this! I was thinking the exact same thing. Also, I'm thinking as he won 7 games in a row, there may have been some in your face stuff going on as well. I'm thinking there wasn't just one JA in this story.....

So how do you shark somebody into a 7 game losing streak when you never let them see another shot? I made him so nevous that he couldn't 3 rail kick in a ball or stop my runouts from his chair? Not even close to what happened.

Why don't you and your friend get a clue about how easy barbox 9 ball can be on a Valley table and get back to me with some more of your BS theories.

glad you thought my post was not snarky, wasnt trying to be. or is there a hint of sarcasm in that statement ?

as for my ability to comprehend. hows this ?

in your 1st post you said he made a run of 7 balls leaving you a shot on the 8 thereby you winning the game. in your last post you say he broke dry and never really had a shot afterwards.

also in your 1st post you stated your team won the 1st match 7-6. all the rest of your post you are stating they are a bunch of drunks that cant shoot and dont have a chance to win.

in my book losing the 1st match by 1 game seems to me that they had a pretty strong chance of winning. losing by 1 game sounds like that match could have gone either way.

i dont believe you lied, he probably is a jerk . but according to your posts you antaganized him in your match.he may have deserved it somewhat and he had no biz hitting you.

now... can you comprehend why i posted what i did ?

and again good luck in vegas

Don't know the situation firsthand, just adding my view on what I've read so far..............

Earlier in this thread (post #36), I related a story similar to master9baller's situation. Now, that's my version of what happened, I've not embellished or left anything out in my interpretation.

And yes, there are two (sometimes three) sides to every story.

I like the part where after the meltdown, with him up 2-0, he's about to break and I say "Bet from here, $500?". He takes out a roll of money, slaps it on the table and I say "You don't mean it.". Then he just picks up the money. I get up, with all his people stilltlking stuff, look at them and count them off 1,2,3... 8 (people) and say outloud "that's fair 8 against 1". Then I go on to beat him 7 straight games in dominating fashion.

There's nothing that makes it right that this guy decided to hit you after the game. I don't condone violence in any form, and especially over a 'pool game', whether Vegas is on the line or not.
However, had my teammate chose to 'run his mouth' similar to the above quote, I probably wouldn't have been as eager to calm him down, as he would have directly contributed to the problem.

Again, doesn't make it right that he hit you, but if you knew that these guys were 'connected' with the LO and local law enforcement, instead of antagonizing the situation, maybe you should have just kept your mouth shut and let your game do the talking.
If these guys are 'just some punks' or whatever other vebage you want to use to describe them, then consider yourself lucky they didn't beat the s*** out of you in the parking lot.

And yeah, yeah, yeah, we're all tough guys. But 8 versus 1 aren't the kind of odds I wanna be up against.

This is a long thread so I might have missed it but WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE APA LEAGUE OPERATOR you are talking about? What city, what host location, name of opponent?

I want to take you seriously but you're making it tough.

Details. Or be quite. Please.

Challenge him heads up!!!!! If you are the better player than you have nothing to worry about. If the ego is there he'll bite for sure.

Make sure to get as much money out of him as possible. Play him for at least a $1000!!! Save up for a year if you have to but get him up on that table... post the cash and play a long set with him.

Nothing better than smashing somebody's ego along with their wallet. God knows almost every great player on here has done it. League players are easy to break... But you should only do it to *****s with ego's that are bigger than their games ;)

"APA in Fulton, NY" is the title of the thread.

I played a hockey game in Fulton once (im from Ithaca) and the rink had chain-linked fencing for glass... What does that tell you about Fulton NY

Where does this JJ guy play?? Would like to see him in action :thumbup2:

Man, that's rough! I played league a couple of years ago and one of the players was so drunk, he passed out between the tables after the match was over. They dragged him out by his feet. The humiliating thing is he won 2 out of 3 games against our team. Made 3 banks in a row against me and was straight in on the 8. Not a good night...

There isn't a chance he would play me, not even in the least. He'd need probably 8-5 games to be close. I'd love nothing more than to rob him, but he's just one of those guys who talks and doesn't mean it.

I played tonight and made my planefare. Don't care if anyone chooses to believe it or not, just the truth, no reason to lie. This week has been a very good week for pool for me.

I played hockey all through school, a great game that breeds toughness. I played all over central NY and had alot of great memories. A very competitive and aggressive sport.

Right now JJ don't play amywhere does he? APA is the only think going up north other than bar league stuff. He can always make the drive down here and play with us city folk.

Bro, you have officially entered the NIT ZONE
I don't need to re-explain everything to you. You can take my word for it or not because I don't give a rat's a$$ what you think, comprende?

"Son" ??

Master9baller, I've read your comment above, and some of the other posts you've made in this thread to members that have a different take on the situation than you do. I don't know you other than from this forum, but many of your posts come across with a bit of arrogance. Not only in this thread, but quite a few others. You seem to have a chip on your shoulder about something. As to what, I have no idea.

Regarding the topic of your thread, as you've stated yourself, you have 4 dependents and a day job that would frown on your incarCeration.
So why would you antagonize the situation with offering to "bet from here, $500?". Then have the nerve to count them off 1,2,3... 8 (people) and say outloud "that's fair 8 against 1".
"Wanna play for $500 ?". "Put your money away". Please tell me you weren't wearing a black shirt with your name on it, and doing tricks with your cue while "Werewolves of London" was on the jukebox.
It doesn't make it right, but prancing around the pool table with that kind of attitude and loudmouth BS gets people smacked, or worse.

I have a wife and children to support as well. And frankly, if some "punk in the league" wants to run his mouth, so be it. It's only words, man. Let someone else put the 'punk' in his place and show him some manners.

Everything reads as though you enjoyed provoking this young man (punk ?). And I'm not doubting that you're very seldom scared of anything or anybody. But sometimes it's just better to walk away.

As far as taking your word for it or not, myself, and it seems many other, are only responding to what you've posted regarding the situation. Even though your version is currently the only version available, I have yet to read anywhere in this thread that someone has outright called you a "liar". Seems that most of them are only clarifying your story.

If you dont want to put up the money ill sponsor ya... Got to get some weight though... Especially from a hotshot hothead ;)

Mickey, I love ya but, please refer to the above post as well. Not looking for your approval here, or you condoning anything I do thanks. BTW you and lorider are the only 2 acting like my mommy here, I'm a big boy, don't worry for me.

Just relaying a little tale about pool that most of the people here are able to relate to. If you are looking to stone somebody, go elsewhere.

Well I have some OPM (other people's money) from last night as well. Maybe we could pool say $2000 and have a $1000 game of barbox 9 ball followed by a sanctioned cage match for another grand :D. I'll get back with you, you can be my cornerman.

I just don't handle veiled aggression very well. If somebody has something to say by all means let it out. If they want to try a BS move, I'll probably have a counter for it. Been at this for awhile now.

As far as what I post here, relax it's a pool forum. No need to analyze my every word. Just enjoy it or don't read.
