How about this? They other does NOT have to pay. Only your team. You pay you get the points for the win. If nobody for their team shows up they get no point and they do not have to pay. If only one person shows up for their team they have to pay the full payment.

The money they owe will continue to follow the team Captain of that team the next session, and he should start losing points off those matches as well, or risk suspension. At least, that's how it's done here.
Our team shows up last night to play but none of thier team shows up....
We call the T.D. and they tell us that we still have to pay even thought the other team didn't show up.....My question is why???

Just to make a point, the majority of APA league play does not involve cash payback. Some league operators have some divisions that have a payback, but the league is not based on that principle, and few do it. If you want to play league for a payback, other than the fun of playing, the APA is not the right league for you. If a team forfeits a match, as was mentioned, the fees owed will follow into the next session, or whenever those players play again. The reason the fees are paid by everyone, whether there is a forfeit or not, is because those are the rules. Play by the rules, or don't play.

Who in their right mind would play a league that did not pay back. What is going on with all this money if they aren't paying back. And just what is being given for prizes.
tigerseye, maybe a different point of view would help you here. The only proble with them losing points is they are in dead last place and it doesnt matter to them at thins point.... We are in 1st so we are stuck with paying and they are gonna get out of it....Thats another crock of poo poo...
You only get money in the APA if you go to Vegas. If you winn everything and do not go to Vegas you get nothing!! That's right nothing!! The money will go down the line until someone takes the trip and if they never happens then the APA will keep the money for themselves. We had a team winn here and did not want to go to Vegas and that is what they were told. They ended up going and it cost them more then they won. What a joke. We also have a league (5 player teams) here and you winn $6000.00 and then you can decide if you want to go to Vegas or not (BCA or VNEA) That is the way a league is suppose to be run. JMO
I know how the payout for the trip goes. But when I played APA the divisionals always had cash payback here & from what I knew or THOUGHT I knew it worked that way everywhere but apparently from what Scott said it don't. And I agree it is a JOKE thus why I do not play in it any more.
No offence, but if you are looking to win/earn money, your bar pool leage will leave you short changed (no pun intended)!

That's not how it works everywhere. The APA basically offers up a format and the national organization (including Vegas), and lets the franchise owners determine most of the details on how they run their local organizations. Mine pays a little bit for first every season (about $150 or so), gives out pretty nice trophies to first and second in two tiers, and then goes all out on the regional tournaments they hold three times a year for the season winning teams. Everyone who plays gets something, from $200 or so if you go one and out to more than enough money to take the team to Vegas for the people who qualify for it. They also have free tournaments with cash and prizes for the MVPs of each session and all the division reps, they pay the players who qualify to go to the individuals in Vegas, along with doubles and Jack and Jill.
From what I've heard, it really seems like the APA can be a great experience with the right operator and a terrible one without. I really recommend it to new players as a way to learn the game. And if you ever end up in the Washington, DC area, you might want to check it out -- that's the organization I'm describing above.
