This year I'm teachng 5th grade again for my day job. I had my students write about what a Veteran means to them. This is one of the papers written in our 15 minute journal writing we do daily. She read it to the class this morning along with many other student entries.
WHAT A VETERAN MEANS TO ME
What a veteran means to me is bravery, loyalness, and honor. They are brave for not backing down on the battle field, even if all hope is lost. They will stand tall. They are loyal for committing themselves to our country to serve. And, they honor our country. You and I honor this country, but they take honor to the next level. They honor this country so dearly that they are wlling to sacrifice their lives leaving family, friends, and jobs behind. They are the reason our lives are the way they are. They are the reason for us. And that's why we thank and honor them with Veteran's Day, a day dedicated to them. We are all gratefull.

Enlisting in the USMC... waiting on a ship date....
When people ask me why would you want to go and do something stupid like that.... I think of the courageous men and women who have inspired us all and sacrifice so much and think to myself..."Cause I hope to contribute half as much as they did." Thank you to those who have served and I hope you know that sacrifices made are not easily forgotten or in-vain. Thanks Nick!

You know my story 20+ and still in it. To all my brothers, we honor our fallen and rejoice with those who made the last hop home. We do and did it because we know no other calling. To all I say "All gave some, and some gave all." Lest we forget freedom is never free.
