Any specific reason, or is this just a general apology?

I was asked to do a blog about my experiences at the Western BCA Regionals and took several refs to task. Apparently they weren't all the same one. And I will save my joke, "All white guys look alike" for a time when it will be appreciated. Even though they were my experiences and my viewpoint, they were not what should be said on a public forum, either there or here. I goofed and now I am apologizing. :o

I can't get into the other one to post an apology there yet.

you've been a asset to the game for a long time, the apology shows to what degree.

it takes as much courage to sand up for whats right as it does to admit a wrong.whatever you wrote, you wrote out of exp. not out of malice. thats harsh you fingered the wrong person, but you attemted to right that.

if someone of your stature in the game cant speak out for it publicly, who can.

hit um high let um fly...Mowem down

it's been my experience that refs hear way more than you would think and they are able to put it behind them......until they see you again, and are calling a match or game that you're in:)

I'm a ref and I take offense to that. I'm hoping that you're just being funny.

Refs are taught to learn what a good hit will look like and then call the foul when it comes off differently. I'm not aware of any that look at the players involved and think, "Okay, this clown complained about a good call I made last time so I'm really going to do him dirty this time! or if it's a close call it's going against him!"

OK, now it was pointed out that Paul Sapp's name was misspelled. Geez, no good at copying and pasting, evidently. So another apology for not getting the last P in there.

Brian,

I just want you to know that I have great respect for almost every ref out there. They take a lot of abuse and whenever a call is made, unless obvious, there is always going to be someone unhappy. I have many friends that are referees themselves, who have undergone rigorous training. Some of them are even good players themselves.

When I was president of the ACW (Association of Cuesports for Women, Inc.) I handled tournament directors and refs as part of my job and had deep respect for them.

When I played in World's Michaela Tabb called an unnecessary foul on me that I disputed. But I still love Michaela.

Heck, I even have been called over to watch a hit and I hate doing that! Last week, the guy made a good hit but it scratched. So I called a good hit but a bad shot, lol. It cracked everyone up.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I respect the job that you do.

Coming from this "white guy" IMHO, anyone that holds a cue, and can't take
this type of joke, should go join their local "Synchronized Swimming Club"
or the local "Fancy Poodle Owners club"

Then, hit up the local plastic surgeon to add some thicker skin! :p

Im a typical white guy "and i appreciated this post"

Linda,

You are a class act! My comment was directed at someone else but I appreciate you're taking the time to post directly to me. Truth is, nearly every player I've ever come in contact with while reffing has been supportive of the job we have to do.

Thanks to you for everything you've done for our sport!

Well, because I am Asian and hear that we all look alike, it has floored many people when I just tell them that they all look alike, always said in jest. It is my standard comeback when I forget someone's face and I am glad you can appreciate the humor. But I didn't feel like it was appropriate for the BCA.

Gosh Linda, I hope I don't look like Mike!!! I takes a lot of guts to apologize on a public forum like this. I have always had the utmost respect for you as a player and as a person. I doubt that anyone took the comments you made too hard. One fact of life is players and referees do not always see the shot the same way.

I certainly wouldn't take offense, but I think the description in your signature ("skinny butt and shaft") might not be appropriate for minors.
