Apology

Maybe we can start over. How about posting your experience again, replete with pics and we'll see if there can be positive dialog about the pros and cons of billiard equipment at chain stores.

I am sure i was the one who was threatened. Here it is Kevin. You knock everyone's business around town in Charlotte. You have knocked the cues we sell right in front of me at Smokin' Cue. You are opinionated and that's okay except when it crosses the line. I apologize to you here for pushing your buttons but not for chastising your approach. You need to tone it down man. Some of us have been around these boards for ten years and we know each other and we know the business. We don't stand for BS.

You know that I have publicly posted here that you do good work. I don't say that lightly. You do good work. Your work however is not the greatest I have seen nor is it the worst. Your cues hit really nicely but they are not the greatest nor the worst. Over time I predict that you will become a great cuemaker. Please learn some tact to go with your cuemaking skill and we can get along just fine.

Once again, I apologize for antagonizing you. Please don't shoot me :-) My life insurance premium is late. Seriously dude, you have a lot to offer so please consider what I said about being nicer around town AND on the forums.

John, the guy apologized. Why are you dragging in a bunch of stuff from the past? That is a cheep shot in my book. Just accept the apology and hope for the best in the future. JMHO
Best Regards, Purdman;)

I am not. I am explaining my position and apologizing as well. I don't even know what he apologized for since I didn't see it. Did he make a threat against me? I assume so since I was the chief antagonist.

I can't accept an apology for something I haven't even read. I can however explain my feelings on the matter and offer my own apology for my own actions.

On top of that Kevin didn't apologize TO ME. He apologized to the board for issuing a threat on the board. He clearly said that he feels that things should be settled in person so to me that reads a lot like the threat is still very much in effect. As I said though I have seen no threat and was just responding to the general attitude projected by Kevin as I see it.

Now, Don, once again, I apologize to Kevin Varney for antagonizing him. I do not apologize for pointing out the things he says that are not accurate. I apologize for the way that I did it. I asked Kevin to be more tactful and professional. He can take that anyway he wants to.

Talking about cheap shots though, I have never once heard a single word from you that was in any way remorseful for calling me a LIAR, among other things, in front of the members of this board. So I wouldn't get too comfortable in my glass house if I were you. Your assumptions about me and my business practices have often gone way over the top in both inaccuracy and insult. If anyone is actually owed an apology here it is me from you.

I don't think Onepocketchump is "out of line" at all, considering some of the things that were said in the "Walmart" thread. I mean death threats on a message board?! Kind of losing a grip on reality in my book.

I would be more than happy to explain everything I have ever posted about you and cheep Chinese cues and your scientifically unproven insulating qualities of the Instroke cases. What else are you talking about?

That's exactly what I am talking about. It's not only what you say but how you say it. Here you are throwing stones at me for how I am dealing with Kevin Varney and yet you do exactly the same things you chastise me for.

You don't need to explain anything. I shut you down in both discussions successfully and will continue to do so each and every time you come at me with inaccurate and ignorant opinionated blabber. If you wanted to bring it up again I'd shut you down again.

The POINT I am making which YOU FAIL to grasp is that you cannot have a civil discussion on the topic WITHOUT calling someone a LIAR, A FRAUD, A CHEAT, A CHARLATAN and SO ON. You have never apologized to me for doing these things to me so don't come on here and tell me how to handle my affairs with someone else that I deal with. It's okay to question the statements anyone makes on these boards. In fact, I would argue that this is the very essence of why such discussion boards are important. It is not okay to call someone a liar because YOUR OPINION is different. It is not okay to stand up and call someone a sleazy salesman because YOU DON'T LIKE THE PRODUCTS HE SELLS.

Don't be a hypocrite Don. If you are going to call me on what you consider BS then let's see you call out others as well, including yourself. You jump in and attack with insults and innuendo but NEVER offer us any shred of validation for your position other than YOUR OPINION. I asked you to provide us with your experience that's allows you to make such sweeping statements about overseas manufacturing processes and you did not respond with any. In fact you did not respond at ALL. And this is your tactic. Toss out an uninformed opinion with an ad hominem insult on top of it and we are all supposed to bow to your superiority.

Not me Don. When you tell me that you have toured Asian cue factories, that you have sourced materials and that you have been involved in the billiard business in more ways than whittling wood once in a while then I'll consider your opinions as something of value. I would even be more than happy to either validate or correct your opinions if you would express them as such without the vile insults. Civil discourse is healthy. Try it sometime.

Regarding the cues at WalMart, truth be told, if I wanted to buy a cue to hustle, that's where I'd head. Try and find one with a Budweiser or Harley logo on it, or one of those four piece jobs, make sure it rolls straight, get that handy dandy hard case that comes with it, install a good tip on it, practice hard to know how it plays, and hit the circuit! Any place but a Walmart or similar store to pick up one of those babies? Betcha the local pool hall won't have 'em. Those cues have "sucker" written all over them. LOL

Me too. I liked that thread, it was going in a different direction, and we were talking about the quality of the Wood.

:)

Varney, it takes a lot to appologize in a public forum. No matter what happened and who said what that was really a good way of showing respect to others.

Well, does this mean that nobody is going to be shot?

Well, that just puts a damper on the whole thing.
