Apology

My apologies that I have offended some for giving rep points on the initial message in this thread. While the message is addressed to "anyone that was offended" by Mr. Varney's comment in another thread, I had given the benefit of the doubt that a direct apology was already given to the person the original comment was directed towards. So in that respect, I feel the rep points were warranted. If I receive good or bad rep points for my decision, so be it. It's not really going to have an impact on how I go about my daily life or how I interact in this forum.

While it is true that many use this forum to promote their business and pass knowledge on to others, many also forget that it's just a message board and that reading someone's written text doesn't necessarily mean the reader will comprehend the tone and demeanor in which the text is written. I for one am grateful that many choose to share their knowledge and opinions on this forum. It makes research a little easier. It's up to the reader to choose to believe, or not to believe what is written.

Personal attacks on others are never warranted, but they of course do happen. It bothers some more than others. We just have to take everything with a grain of salt I suppose.

Good luck to everyone.

The reason I had not apologized to John was that I've been very busy the past couple days...digging a hole deep in the woods.
So I accept Johns apology and I in turn apologize to him for my threat. I will even offer to give you a better Green Room line than you apparently have...so maybe your spots won't be so large and you can keep your cash in your pocket.
Now...Purdman, send me that beer.

NP. I haven't put my cue together in a month. I just don't care about playing anymore and no one in Charlotte will play me a fair game anyway.

I get really tired of the games. Either they want too much weight or they won't give up the right weight, or they are flat out robbing you and want to adjust, or they pull an I've only got ten minutes to play move on you or they want to bark at you for hours to get you hot before you play and so on.... I am just plain worn out from all the nittiness that pervades amateur gambling. I have moved my attention to women, haven't been in a poolroom for a month and am getting more action than a steak at a pitbull convention.

The closest I get to pool now is playing rack boy for Kelly.

not me!

Since I am one of the ones commenting on finding the praise given Varney for his apology a bit odd let me be quick to say that I was not the least bit offended by anyone's posts. I don't have a dog in this fight so nary a thing offended me including the threats directed at others. No close friends of mine involved, no enemies, I just duck into these threads now and then to kill time when I want to take a break.

I know John, and I agree with you ... lol Guys nitpick back and forth over $10 a set ... duh, why even bolt up if one or the other has to have a spot.
I am old school (Like Freddy's sayings), and you never used to get any adjust on a spot, if there was one, unless you were $500 or more down, or the other way too. You are hard pressed to find a player that will just play straight up anymore, kind of like wannabes had to do in the old days to make a name for themselves.

Now, players want to adjust after EACH set, whether its for $5 or $100 or more. Now, you have to almost have a lawyer to agree on a game, and even if you do, you have to add things like: Minimum 3 set put up, 1 hour notice before quitting, only adjust every 3 sets if agreed upon.

I, also, having been concentrating lately in the same area as you ... lol

This thread never disappoints......

It's got it all...... petty bickering, sincerity, humor, and the occasional political comment. No dog in the fight here either, never met any of you in person, but next time I'm in NC (Cary) I'd be happy to meet any of you for a few beers and some pool. I'm a novice player, but I will play 8, 9, golf, or 14:1 with anybody. Never played banks, 1pocket 10 ball, 7 ball etc, but am willing to give it a shot.

Incidently Hezbolla used a Chinese made Iranian supplied silkworm Missle to hit that Isreali ship. They got lucky because the ships counter measure system wasn't turned on......Lesson never underestimate your opponent....

OH man....everyone wants a robbery. I played one pocket on Saturday with this old man who KNOWS how I play. I ask him what he wants to bet and he says 5 dollars a game. FIVE DOLLARS. Nothing wrong with that, but sheesh. So..I'm thinking I'm going to play hard and win as much as I can before he quits because I know he won't jack it up. I win two easy first games and says, "I think you're sticking me up." I said, "Sticking you up? Over 5 dollars? You said this is what you wanted to bet. Believe me, we can bet more." This shut him up...but he was getting really mad, so I let him get back down even real quick, and asked him to jack it up (just in case)..he didn't...so that was that. On the table next to us were two guys who can't play a LICK playing races to 7 for $300.00. I was slobbering to play one of those guys...LOL. Everyone wants a robbery...even over a 5 dollar game of one pocket this guy probably wanted 9-6..LOL.
