Archer calling his shot and Shane no pan flash.

I don't think anything is wrong with Archer's confidence calling his shot like that or is Strickland just that easy?

News flash to the pool world Shane is no flash in the pan. He is a champion that is here to stay.

Archer vs. Strickland

I like it!!!!!! I think that this is a great way to promote this pool event (or any 1-1 challenge matches). A little fire, a little trash talking to hype up the event is all good as long as it is not personal nor out of line (in this case, it is obviously not disrespectful, IMO). I liken it to the stare-down in boxing.

Now, they just need to come back with a good quote from Strickland. I am anxious to hear what Strickland will say. :D

Shane is for real. His love for the game and the work ethic (practice) is unmatched. Gotta love what you do to be good at it, and he loves the pool game.

Can you guys please elaborate? Some of us have not seen the match to which you are referring.

Thanks!

Russ

Hmmm... An in stroke Archer is making a prediction he will beat a (at the moment) mentally broke down Strickland....

Wow, Johnny's really going out on a limb here, eh? :D :D :D

Russ

P.S. I quite even checking the Azbilliards front page, after the very very very weak coverage of the Sands. The Sands is the only tourney that the OR/WA/SW Canadian players that I know play in, and would have appreciated much better coverage. :(

My thoughts exactly.

It is still nice to hear the always-classsy-Archer making a prediction. :D

I would not write off Strickland in this particular match. This is 8-Ball and a short race to 15. Lots of things can happen.

Earl didn't seem so scrambled at the end of the SVB match, in fact, he showed a lot of class. Unfortunately, the stream was cut off. According to Justin, Earl continued on about Shane's very bright future, even saying that he had a very good chance to beat Earl's record of 4 (?) World Championships etc. He's going to be anxious to redeem himself, and while I wouldn't bet the farm, he may show a little better here IMHO...Tom

It's 6 World Championships, and 5 U.S. Opens.

Earl was very gracious and classy afterward...And no, it is not an oxymoron...One thing that stuck to my mind was what Earl said. He said something like, at his best, he could probably beat Shane by 4,5 games in a race to 100. And for the Color Of Money match vs. Efren, he was not at the peak of his career.

It is possible that Earl was just being nice since Shane was sitting there. My take is, he was just being honest. Assuming that he was being honest, it tells me that Earl thinks Shane is the best US player and the top 2-3 player in the world right now. And I agree with that.

Don't think you'd find many folks to argue with this...
