Ofically took over their pool room in Marietta Ga yesterday, I spoke to Kim last night for an hour and a half, they have 20K SqFt, 38 tables-more comming soon a 40' long bar-maybe longer. 2 bars total, kitchen everything, alot of real nice wood work in the place, its a first class room top to bottom. I'm going to go there soon as my back is good. they are going to have leagues, tournments, a teaching section for lessions etc. Man they are doing it all!!! And with 2 champions owning it its a lock that it will be done right, congrats to them.

Fatboy,
Is Davenport re-locating from Modesto or is this just to set up the business?
Thanks

He has moved to Georgia. With the lovely Aida, still the most beautiful woman in the entire pool realm.

He's listed on AzBilliards Player List, but I couldn't locate a photo! Played on the Camel Tour, I think.

Coy Lee Nicholson
1999 Rank: 124
1999 Points: 20

Coy used to travel in a colorful van with his lady and this lady was a very good player and a christian. Coy played in tournaments and also on the road.I am not mentioning the name of that lady because she is now happily married to another man.
Coy was a very strong player and I will rate his game under the category of `bottom Pro` if pros can be devided into top, middle and bottom.

He played in the camel tour event when it was held in Magoos in Tulsa, OK if my memory serves me good.

That is correct. I am excited to see what they do with it, as this is my favorite room. I just really hope they fix it up, it has gotten a bit rundown and the bathrooms really need to be fixed.

I believe they have hired Fast Larry as the House Pro.

yes. i spoke to him eariler in the week when he was loading up the truck, he is there 100% to stay permantly(not just to open it) and is going to work until they close at 3am 6 or 7 nights a week in the beginning he told me, he has owned pieces of other pool rooms and knows the gig as good as anyone. He has lived in Modesto forever and its a dead end there nowdays so he packed up and went to where things are good, he is excited and happy. They will do great. Johnnie is a great guy and they have known each other for along time so the trust is there as is the determination to own one of the top pool rooms in America. They get along great which is important and its a lock they will achieve their goals.

thats correct, they are going to re-name it soon, if they havent already. i'm not going to say what it is because perhaps they want to make it public on their own.

I wish them both the best of luck. The poolroom business is a hard nut to crack now a days. That's a big place with high rent I would guess. They better fill the barstools up at that 40' bar. Does anyone know why the last owner sold? Johnnyt

i know almost everything about the deal, how the deal is structured etc. however it isnt my business to put into the street, so I cant discuss it anymore. However I am a businessman-I own alot of businesses and the way they have this set up they are about as bullet proof as possible. They will do just fine, they took over a existing room. There is nothing to worrie about on this deal they will be there for as long as they want to be. From what I know I dont see one weak link-and I dont say that often, I see alot of peoples businesses and spot the problems first off-all businessmen who are successful do, like problem balls on a pool table, awalys look for the problems we know the balls hanging in the pock will take care of themselfs. They have a road map to put it into pool terms.

it will be great for pool, i'm gonna go there soon as my back is ok, and give johnnie the 7. ;)

The Pool Room was a well established room for years. Jon opened a second room (The Pool Room II) in Duluth which is doing great from all I hear. He may have decided running two of the biggest rooms in the Atlanta area was more than he wanted. I do know Johnny used to spend a good bit of time there a couple of years ago.
It's a beautiful room, and I wish them all the best.
