What tip does Johnny use?
The question was brought up in Des Moines during the pool school tour.
He told us the only layered tip he liked was the "that japanese one" Kamui. He said he normally did not care for layered tips. He also said that companies send him all kinds of stuff for free and he tries them out.
I asked him about aiming systems. He said he didn't use one and that you should focus on the contact points. He said he does all of his aiming before he gets down on the shot and never adjusts when he gets down. This could be one of the reasons he's always picking up lint or whatever off the table. He's probably trying to concentrate and doesn't want little things on the table distracting him.
Anyway, I respect Johnny and his words of advice but you have to recognize what works for some might not work for all.

Thats awesome that you will never forget the time you spent at the pool school. Hopefully you learned something. In the pool school format everyone gets to play Johnny a game of 8 ball and he talks you through the rack. If your shooting, he'll tell you what he thinks you should do and when he is shooting he'll explain what he's doing and why.
He gives everyone the break and it goes from there. In Des Moines we played on the 9' Diamonds. I was the only one in my group to beat Johnny because I broke and ran out.
It was probably my best single game experience because I couldn't recall breaking and running on the 9 footers before (don't play on them much) and to do that for my one shot against Johnny was pretty amazing. I probably won't ever forget that game.
