Archie the Greek--The Worlds Greatest Gambler

I have to say I'm a little skeptical about the 8 of 9 Nine balls on the break. I know it was a small table. I know it is possible, but very unlikely especially attached to such a big story.
 
Anybody who has watch Casino knows Sam Rothstein is the world's greatest gambler. sheesh!

2 BCA'a ago i saw him get the 7 from George Breedlove. George played one handed. GB won that game but then gave him the 6 and lost but only a little.
 
Archie and I used to play regular session of one pocket, with a little weight, for a hundred a game back in the early seventies. No doubt that he always wanted fast action.
One day I was taking a fair amount of time in making a decision on a shot and he was a bit annoyed when he said to me "you're taking too much time, shoot already". I turned to him and said " Archie let me see you give up 11 to 4 for a hundred a game then we'll see how fast you shoot"
At that time you could make your monthly rent with one game. Archie and I have now been good friends through all these years. There's only one of him.
 
I busted Archie in Baton Rouge

:grin: As was written in my biography I busted Archie in Baton Rouge about 10 years ago and offered to play him a race to five for a million dollars, an offer that he refused. I have since retired from pool at age 64 and Archie might be the only guy who could make me unretire. He's a pretty good player and a terrific gambler so maybe this will become a reality. :grin: :wink: :grin:
 
I played him five years ago at my poolroom in L.A. 500 a game One Pocket and gave him 9-5. I won 5,500 over the course of two days. He came back a week later and convinced me to give him 5-3 and the break. DUMB JAY! I won the first game and then lost seven games in a row at a 1,000 a pop! He got his money back and made me hit the rack. :frown:

during negotiations/woofing with a pro player from England I heard Archie saying " I do n`t care for a fair game.I want nuts".

At the Pool Club in Vegas I watched he and Chohan matching up for $800 a rack of 9ball--Archie getting the 3,5,and 7. Went back and forth.

Are you serious? All you talk about is how much you will bet on this or that, you even answered this thread saying i'll take 5-3 and the pop.

Specifically in the Bucktooth threads you talked about how much you have bet and how much you would bet.
