Are Andy Gilbert's Cues Used by Pros?

Thanks for all the information and comments. Still interested if anyone knows of other pro players using an Andy Gilbert cue.

Andy and Vicki are in dead punch right now with their cuemaking. They are just building some gorgeous cues. Guess that's one reason Andy is about to be honored as ACA Cuemaker of the Year !!!!!!

Here's a brand new one that my buddy Matt just got in. Nice subtle veneers, cocobolo and nicely figured bird's eye maple.

I have Gilbert jump/break and I agree it plays incredibly well, or at least it did before I swapped the tip for a Samsara. With the stock tip it's probably the most versatile cue ever, but my poor jumping skills meant I couldn't jump well with it. Samsara tip fixed that real quick!

Anyway, I was wondering, does he make these simple j/b cues from a full splice blank or does he build a short splice forearm for them himself? The point work is just so clean on them, it's really an impressive cue for the price.

They are his own milled in points. Andy will not sign his name on any cue converted from a blank. Best custom cue value out there, imho.

Thanks for that info! That is cool to know, and makes it surprising to me that they are so affordable. The fit and finish is just so good on them.

Here are a few Gilbert cues that I've resisted selling or trading away LOL! What do you think of the paper "veneers"?

Sounds like there are lots of top level players playing with them.

This has been a fun thread.

I agree! I am really surprised there are some pretty high level players that use a Gilbert. I am glad and he definitely makes a solid cue from what I hear.
