I wouldn't use the super soft, but that's my preference.
I'm curently using Kamui brown medium and it's the best tip I've used. Granted, I haven't used many others, but from day 1 I loved it.

Everone has a favorite that is why Muellers sell so many tips. We use to have this TOP Player in AZ he used a LePro. It was his skill that's won events not his tip.

I'm a low level league player using a Cuetec cue which recently got an R360 shaft added to it. I've played with other people's cues just to hit around and at least 10 of those had different kamui tips. I really couldn't tell you the difference between those and whatever the tip on my cuetec is.

I've never liked them but I know a lot that love them.

The only piece of advice I can give regarding tips is when you find a tip that you love I highly suggest you stick with it. You'll save a ton of money in the long run. I've stick with Sniper tips for years. Over that time I've tried a lot of tips because I thought I might like something better. Each time I'd cut a Sniper off and put something different on. Each time I'd play it, cut it off and put a Sniper back on. I'm using a Moori J tip right now. I really like it, but I need to do some work on it

You can count me as another fan of the Kamui brown in medium. I'm neither a fan of soft nor hard tips and the med brown is just perfect for me. It keeps its shape and holds chalk well. Miscues have become a rarity since I switched from "other brand" mediums.

In the world of Kamui I much prefer the brown (tan?) to the black.

I have used Kamui for about two years but after the endless glazing fights
I decided to go back to Triangle.
They're rough and 'skuffy' and awesome. I love the way that tip transfers
each hit into the cue.....don't know how to describe it but they just match
my preference in tips perfectly. To each his own....probably much of that is
because I had used them for so many years before the Kamui experiment.
But I love how hard Triangle tips get without mushrooming and still staying
rough on the surface.

That being said if you want Kamui I can say that in my experience the brown
dosn't seem to glaze over quite as quickly as the black.

Kamui Clear?
I never noticed any difference between the clear and the regular Kamui
other than installing the clear can be much harder if you install your own tips.
They say the clear is supposed to stop the glue from penetrating the leather
but I've never had that problem anyway with the regular ones.
I also don't play my tips down to the ferrule.

Tips are like women.

You have to find what you like the best. And what is great for you, isn't necessarily great for the next person.

I like really hard tips and blonde women. What do you like?

I like blonde women who like really hard tips......

They have an awful hit, they glaze over like no other tip and they cost a fortune.

But they grab the ball well and spin it effortlessly.

I don't like them. You might.

????????????

As a cue repair man for the last 30 years, I myself don't like them, But I have to stock them because so many people are stuck on them, I just don't like the way they play, In think there are just as good or in some cases much better tips out there then Kamui,, I myself can use any tip I want being a cue repair man and I still have some first generations Moori's, Right now I think the best tip around are the ZAN's
I'm using there Highbread Max Now and love it, as well as some of the top pros are using Zans now,,,,,But there are other great tips as well , Like the Wizzard, G-2's..You should maybe think of trying something besides a Kamui,,,

There are 3 tips. LePro,Triangle,Elkmaster,(only a soaked/pressed Elkmaster done by pooldawg8). There are no other tips to be considered !!!

Kamui tips are a great playing tip.............. however

They tend to glaze over and get hard as a rock........ and the price is outrageous

Another expensive tip that is good is the G2

the old triangle is also excellent and cheap

Ultraskin looks and plays like Kamui and is 1/3 the price

A new tip.... SIB... from the same source as untraskin is cheap and maybe better than Kamui......... it plays a lot like the original Moori.......... give them a try and you won't be sorry

Generally very good feedback on Kamui tips. The Clear Black is more popular, than the Clear Original. But of the two I prefer the Original series, as it holds chalk so much better.

FWIW, Kamui are one of my least favorite tips. I've tried them twice and both were off my shaft after one playing session. Ditto for Tiger Everest. So far, the only layered tip I really like is the Ultraskin, although I have to say that I do need to rough it up rather frequently. It only takes a second, and it's worth it to me. The Ultraskin Medium feels and plays like what I remember the nice old, hard Le Pros playing like, and good Triangles.

If UltraSkin tips didn't exist, I'd probably just play Triangle tips again, or Le Pro if I could figure out how to find a good one. I may just switch back to Triangle anyway, to be honest. IMHO, the standard tips play best out of all of them.

Short answer - Yes. A little longer answer - I have used a lot of different tips and for the past several years have exclusively used Kamui SS both brown and black. For me, they fit my game very well and I like them both. I have never used the Kamui Clear but the guys I use to install the tips do a very good job so I haven't found the need to use that version. As to price, +-$20 for a tip every 8-12 months is not a big deal to me. Enjoy your search for one of the Holy Grail's in pool. :)
