I will have to disagree (and I think GoldenChild would concur - he and I discussed this point at some length). You really want a fairly gentle break to try to spread the balls evenly. With the monster break the balls seem to hit rails and come back together in clusters. Whatever speed accomplishes a uniform spread without clusters is definitely the best. You don't need to worry about sinking a ball on the break.
If, however, your monster break accomplishes a uniform spread with no clusters, then ignore this post.
Who am I to disagree with you or GoldenChild, (seriously) you beat my ass and GoldenChild trounced EVERYONE.
I think for maximum points in each rack, you're right...IF a player has the game to begin with to work around and through a tighter layout without getting out of position.
I think for the average player on here or someone that's not a strong 14.1 player, the bigger break is better because it gives them more open shot options and less thinking, especially if they're not used to seeing or creating patterns.
I don't feel like I really got the real hang of the game when we were doing it...plus, I'm really a shitty straight pool player any more and it infuriates me.
I really do need to get back to the game. I keep saying it like a broken record...but I don't. I'm a 9-ball addict.
I'll have to work on what you're talking about. I'll get you, you wittle wascal...
