Are You SICK of this TOO???

Interesting... what seemed like a good point has led to the "real" reason why she is complaining (i.e. see her post history per worldison2).

Whatever her reasoning, I agree with what she is saying, and then skins comes in and makes great points I hadn't thought about! Ah, the power of the forums! :D

I think some people think they are high and mighty and want to step in because their own personal beliefs have been crossed... and they get down right upset and have to make a comment either on the thread or run to the moderators.

Makes AZ forums interesting, to say the least! :p  :D

I don't have the time to waste focusing on anything I don't like on AZB, which is great because it only makes the experience even better.
Read a lot of fun/funny things, find links to some cool vids, and come across some very interesting people/stories, and even get to meet some of them from time to time in the pool halls.
I think too many of you stress and focus too much on the negative things, which only gives them more power (zen-ish thinking :)). Just enjoy it for what it offers.

good point and i agree BUT when the cat's "away" the mice play so sometimes it's nice to have other "cats" keeping and eye on the "holes" so you CAN "zen"

If I see a thread or a post I don't care for then I just ignore it, its a simple policy that works wonders.

My parents values

My parent's values are still with me today even though I am over half a century old and buried them both long ago. The "village?" Seemingly as many idiots as people that are good role models in the village. On numerous occasions I had to tell one of my children that a teacher or other authority was wrong concerning an opinion they were trying to teach as fact but they still had to respect the person in authority. Likewise, a time or two I had to go to a school and tell them in no uncertain terms that the teacher would not continue forcing their beliefs on my child.

A quick read of the daily news tells me I want no part of the "village" raising my children and grandchildren. It isn't the teachers and schools job to raise children either. So no I don't want others trying to instill their values and ideas of right or wrong in my child, I did that and because I did I trusted them when they weren't under my direct control. I am very proud to see my grandchildren being taught the same values by my children, that tells me I did a lot that is right as did my parents!

oh so your parents were with you when you were at school all day, were with you when the pier pressure of having a drink or smoking god knows what was tempting you and countless other scenarios???? let me just say i agree that your parents are "THE" ones who will instill values in you but i also believe it's up to the others like them to help when they can't "see" something that MIGHT throw their "work" of course.....that's all that i meant......

are you with me now??

skins ----- believes it's the parents job but also believes once a parent always a parent........

And coaches, and teachers...

I was with you all the way until there. It takes parents to raise a child!

...and friends, and friends parents, and mentors, and....oh yeah, it DOES take a village!;)

Just like it takes a village to raise the level of civil discourse in a online pool forum.:) :) :)

ever see a camel?

Mike,

Believe it or not as a whole teachers, coaches, friend's parents and for sure friends of your children don't see it as their job to raise your children. If you can't be bothered to raise them don't be too surprised when no one else goes to the trouble either!

You ever see a camel? I've heard that a camel was a horse built by a committee. The village is a committee. A few good people that want to be involved, some morons, some that just love to try to exert their will over the helpless, and some that can't be bothered. Far too many parents turn the responsibility of raising their children over to this committee. Then they are stunned when their "good kid" gets in major trouble. The responsibility for raising a child rests with the parents. If the parent doesn't provide a framework for their lives then they shouldn't be surprised if the child grows up without a framework or with one they don't like.

i think you're missing the point Hu. the "village" statement was made not for raising or mentoring those here but let's just say as another pair of eyes who are "watching" out for those things that the VAST majority know to be taboo....ya know how many times i've heard "my kid knows better than do that!" and then see them do "that" right in front of me?? do you think the parents were happy when i told them what was going on?? the point is for a open forum setting like this indiscretion, idiocy, thievery among many others can run rampant and imo it's a welcome sight for those who try to keep the "playing field" level.

WRONG FORUM.

I don't know about anyone else...But I am soooooo sick and tired of other AZ'ers (and you know who you are) playing "police" on this site.

I would never complain about anyone's threads or bumps. It's not the way I was brought up, very impolite. That's what the moderators are for.

What's funny is if you check a history on the complainers, their threads show what they're all about. They pick and complain.....Whine and threaten.

If they directed all that energy towards something positive...Just imagine what they could accomplish!!

Thank God for all the great people on this site...They make up for the "Others"!

Thank you for reading my comments...just venting I guess.:(

all i know is if my neighbor knows someones robing my house or even thinking of it, i'd want to know and let my other neighbors know as well.

my point is i know sometimes those acting like "forum police" can be an annoyance but i've found more times than not it's been very helpful in making sure things here stay on the up-and-up and on the intended course. imo this site has benefited more than less because of the "looking out for the other guy" attitude.

about the job being "just" the moderators well i believe in taking responsibility for one own actions like most everyone else but am also a big fan of the "it takes a village to raise a child" attitude and in an open forum like this where you personally know very few of the ones you corresponding with, the actions of others can be very welcome site to the moderators who can't be at 300 places at one time directing traffic..

OK I'll admit I've not taken the time to thoroughly research your history of posts ( I value my time considerably ).

Congratulations ---- I would guess this may be your first pool/forum related post that was something other than a self serving glove thingy come-on. 2,000 self promoting "BUMPS" doesn't necessarily make you a stellar AZB citizen IMO.

Dave <------also, put me on the side of it takes "parents" to raise a child

I think that some of the people that come on here and play "forum police" are probably so miserable in their everyday lives that it makes them feel big and important at times. But, some do it because they care about the Forum and its overall well being. JMO FWIW.
