Art Cantando has died 9/23/09

I also went to the services for Art. They were truely sad but beautiful..
The amount of family and friends that attended was breathtaking.
Art left a mark on many people in his life, and will always be remembered.
Best,
Ken Kerner

Art Cantando

Barry, heard about the passing of Art but never seen this thread until today. my condolences to Art's family & especially to you. you lost your dearest friend, that's always tough. on your recommendation Art once sent me 5 cues on consignment, i sold 4 of them for him. thank you for your vote of confidence in me. my biggest thrill was the 1st time you allowed me over to your shop, where legends are built, then you took me over to Art's to meet this serious but funny man. I've told many about the petting zoo, where you could never be bitten. Art made sure of that, what a fine bunch of trophy heads & mounts. but he might have been a greater cue maker than hunter. i missed seeing Art & you at VF. got tears in my eyes, even though much time has already passed. did not want to call you or bother you during this tuff time. take care my friend, usually when we lose someone close, God knows our hurt & soon sends a new friend to replace the joy you once had. maybe in this case it might take 2 or 3 regards don

Hard to believe that it has been two years since Art's passing. I was fortunate to retrieve one of his cues recently that I had sold not too long ago on AZ. It is truly a testament to the man himself. He is sadly missed...

He is missed indeed. Art was full of life and a guy with a lot of humour in him. But make no mistake, he would accept zero bulls@it. God bless him.

Very sad that a family has lost a loved one and you Barry, and others have lost a good friend. The pool community will miss his artistic craftsmanship. He created some absolutely beautiful cues and by all accounts was both a fine person to do business with and a joy just to be around.

Enjoyed his conversation

He always gave me a smile after every conversation we had. He is greatly missed.

11 years ago today the great Art Cantando passed away

It’s hard to believe that it was 11 years ago that my friend Art Cantando passed away. RIP Art!

He was both a player and a cuemaker. I still remember Bill (Weenie Beanie) Staton recalling in one of the 1989 US Open matches Art's name.

All the best,
WW
