Ashtrays On GC1 - Yep, Changed My Mind Again . . .

Brian..I may have asked this before, don't remember..

Do your ashtrays sit loose in the corner moldings and rattle around when jostled?

Or are there little rubber captive nibs that attach to the ashtrays and create a 'press' fit into place?

If so, were they in good shape, or did you have to source them somewhere?

Hope these work well for you...they look good.

I like the ash trays and remember them well. I'm sure that you can remove them at a later time if you feel the need to. Nice room but get rid of that beige chalk. I hope to meet you someday, You seem like a real nice guy from what I read and from your posts here on AZ. The Barber

I was against the ashtrays in the first thread.....and I still am.

Although you now have a good place to put your butts, KC......
....maybe you can modify the rest holders for the shafts.
:)

I have two corner casting with ash trays if anyone wants some.

btw, I got this ashtray set from barking4action, had my machine shop buddy clean them up a little and they were good to go.

thx for the good deal Jesse.

And for crying out loud, get that adorable boy of yours straightened out in photoshop already. :D

Hi Bill;

They do sit loose in the casting but it hasn't seemed to make any real difference so far other than on a couple of shots where I have leaned over them and stretched for a shot, I heard them rattleslightly. No big deal.

I am unaware of what, if any nibs or similar may have been used originally.

I wouldn't want to use anything that would raise them appreciably but maybe something like the thickness of bicycle tire tube rubber micht be able to be cut in small strips and glued to the edge of the casting hole that accepts the ashtray inserts.

This should elimate any possible noise while maybe keeping them from moving much.

I'll take a closer look later.

Good move Brian. I will need someplace to put my cigars while I am down playing you.

Gator boat against my Lund.

I will bring my truck with the hitch as I will need a vehicle to bring Gator boat to Saskatchewan.

Oh, and Prime Rib also.

I better get a hold of Danny and take a months worth of lessons first. Haha. Otherwise, I may be shore casting for a bit.

I would love some prime rib, and a Lund boat, those are real nice, too.

you and your esteemed partner and me and mine really need to make this happen. Even if it's just for a dinghy and salisbury steaks.

Thanks guys for all of the kind words.

So far the ashtrays are not causing any issues - it's a little different with them there but really no big deal at all. And the fact that they can pop right out could actually create a better bridging oppty in some cases.

These do not seem to be detracting one bit from my enjoyment and the good thing is that if over time I decide I'd like to return to the regular corner castings, it's not too complicated to do.

Thanks again Jay, for getting her back to perfect..

Yes, everything is right again in my world.
