I called Atlas and placed an order today. The rep informed me that they are going up on the price of Kamui tips as of this Thursday they will increase the price by $0.80 per tip. Just want to give you guys a heads up if your an Atlas customer tomorrow Wednesday is the last day you can get the current price.

Out of curiosity, did they give a hint as to why the price was going up?

It is easy for me to immediately think the usual... fuel prices, weak dollar, materials scarcity, general inflation, increased demand... All of the above, lol. I'm just curious if it's any of the above or something else and if the same will happen to other tips.

I'm not personally worried about buck or two increase in cost, as spread out over 4 or so months it's not a lot. But it's good to keep track of why and how much the overall market might inflate... I want to make sure my tip guy doesn't all of a sudden claim its $5 more now, when it should only be 80-cents... Something I won't worry about once I start doing my own tips.

didn't Atlas just get hammered with some huge fines?? IF so I guess the customer will as usual be paying for them in the end.....

The price of most things go up. 80 cents for something that lasts as long as a cue tip is pretty minimal. My sewer and trash bill went up $35 a month last year. They sure didnt send me any explanations.

thats it im going back to Everest tips. As long as the customers keep tolerating the kamui prices theyll keep raising em. Malidave has it right. theres too many perfectly good tips out there to be overpaying for there tips. Same goes for their chalk and their tip scuffer thing.

everst tips, Masters chalk and plane old sandpaper have worked fine for years and are a quarter of the cost.

Bye bye kamui

It is sad to me there are so many good players out there, there are so many good pool products out there (Brumback's DVD comes to mind), yet one of the only companies that can make a dime is some dude in China overpricing for tips. People pay for that they want, and the system does work, but I guess I just wish the money could go to more ma and pa style joints more often. Just some rambling thoughts, thanks for listening :)

.

Triangle or Le Pro still hard to beat. The cost of one box is about the same as one Kamui and I doubt that anyone could justify the difference in performance.

Probably to pay for all of that sponsership. It is hard to see a stream, tournament, anything in pool these days that is not at least partially sponsered by Kamui. They are buying alot of publicity for their product with that sponsership, and the customers always end up paying for that.

And yes, there are so many options.

Thats why you might do yourself a favor and try a Black King tip or a G2.
Also, Mad Man tips are a one man operation.

I was told by the US distributor that Atlas will not sell me a Kamui tip.
I have absolutely no interest in purchasing any from them but I will be making a $1000 order with them shortly.
We will see if they will include a Kamui tip in the order if I ask or risk losing
an order of that size. I somehow doubt it.

John Bertone is an arrogant putz. In my opinion of course.
He made some claims in another post against other tip manufacturers and for Kamui tips that I am sure he has no knowledge of and that he can't back up.

Its ok to tout your product as being the best out there but it isn't ok to trash another product in the process. Hence the arrogant statement.

He does Kamui more harm than good and will continue to do so in the future.

Unfortunately, the buying public buys into hype, remember when Moori's first came out they were all the rage, and Moori's are still good.

I will say a good layered tip will hold it's shape better and hold chalk a tad bit better then a solid tip, but with layered, like others said an Everest, even a Sniper etc are good the list goes on.

Tiger Everest, right on!

Steve, I have some customers that will venture out and try different tips.

In the long run, they will come back to what they are comfortable with and that is an Everest tip.

Tiger makes all around great products for the repair men and makers.

You can always rely on an Everest, Sniper, and the newer Emeralds and Onyx.

As a repair man, I am always looking for new products. I test every brand of tip I install so I can give my customers a better idea
of what type of tip I am installing for them. Of course, I am interested in the price I have to pay for tips. I don't over charge, in fact I try and give my customers a break when I can but I am also not interested in over paying for products when I can get the same or better
for a decent price.
