It's not about an award it is the reason for the whole event. It's way he supports onepocket.org honoring road agents and hustlers from the past who would otherwise never garner the recognition and honor he feels they deserve.

You should be careful about who who chose to judge your "bet." Depending on how they define "contribution" you could lose.

Is it or is it not an Action Award of some kind at DCC ?

This is NOT an action award but who has contributed the most to pool, promoting the game, getting others to play, etc. Moving the sport forward would be a good way to explain it.

He does not even help folks on here with 1p strategy or anything else. Prob did nothing at 1P either, well, before he was banned.

Than why did you bad mouth it before ? I'm saying is if that is the only thing he has "done for pool" than it's clearly not enough to win the bet. He played pool, and was determined to be very good at it by pool folks that agreed he played well.

THat does not promote the sport, move the sport forward, bring new people in the sport. This is not an action award, like you are now trying make it become. Nice PR skills by the way, but it's not really gonna work. I'm not that slow ;)

Who has done more for the game of pool, Mark Griffin, or Bugs Rucker?

I'm not saying I'm Mark Griffin, just like SJD was no Bugs, but that is the point I'm trying to make. And its no knock on SJD or Bugs, they were not involved with moving the sport forward or promoting the game for whatever reasons.... that's fine.

But SJD clearly asked about my contributions, and I said lets put up then if you think I have not. I only said I've done more than him, and I have. He played better than me. But I never said he didn't. I've NEVER attacked his skills in the game, not once.

But SJD is about the same age as my dad, and SJD is showing some of the same signs of dementia too, with the insults and the 3rd grade tirades, inability to stay on topic, so I'm not gonna rob him. Let him use his money to spend it on the ladies. Just another thread that SJD has a habit of turning south quickly.. just like at 1P.org.

So, I'm done arguing about it anymore. You two can enjoy it. I'm going back to NPR where we can get some stuff accomplished ;)

I'm trying to figure out what purpose all this serves. There are no winners on a thread like this and nothing will be decided in the end. So much wasted energy to prove exactly what?
 
It's Karma. A new poster, Tall Jeff Sparks just happened to relate a road sory, and Sjd just happened to be the 'road tick' that Jeff busted and SJD bet and lost his car, and then stole it back.

It is humerous, after all of the bashing that SJD did at Fred's expense. Note that SJD, who was caught with his pants down and is redfaced, started this thread to say Jeff made it all up. Well, I doubt that, seems Jeff remembers it pretty well.

Does that ring a bell for you, that was 1966. The next time I saw you, we were in Amirillo, and you got broke playing nine ball on a bar table and you lost your car, I believe it was a Pontiac Bonneville, not sure though, which you drove off in as I recall. The year was 1968. And yeah, I'm still gullible, I take a man at his word, it's the way I was brought up here in Texas.
No hard feelings I hope Dick, there's no shame in losing, I've been beat many times, but I never forgot who did it to me!!!

However NEITHER of you are doing the sport a favor, let alone the people who read this site with this nonsense.

It's obvious that the moderators want to let it keep going, but it should have stopped long ago.

Jeff isn't even a member here (last time I checked). He posted his road story over at OP.org and had no clue if SJD was alive or dead. It was just one of those things. Karma for SJD.

I certainly agree with you and Jay..And most of it could have been avoided, if Jeff would have responded to my first post, here on AZB...He posted his response, in the 'Members Only' forum, on 1P.org, which I cannot access because I am banned, remember ?...RJ reminds me of that, almost every post he makes !

I just saw Jeff's response for the first time a few posts ago !..He seems like a decent guy, and we probably could have worked out our differences somehow !...Of course, once the few snarky intruders butted in, it spiraled out of control..I refuse to be anybodies 'whipping boy', and I do apologize for my part in prolonging the thread, but I can't/won't apologize for them too ! :(

PS..By the way, if the mod's are looking at this...isn't Birriards post #110, a little too personal, and perhaps deserving of a long vacation ?

i just got through reading the whole thread over there. his 1st post was about looking up old rivals and sharing stories. after some coercing from other members he started telling about old road trips.

the story about you and him was around the 3rd story. i did not take it as him bad mouthing you and i got the impression he was laughing as he was typing it.

i have not read every post in this thread but i am not suprised how most threads go south pretty frequently on here lately.

although you and i have had a few disagreements in the past dick i do agree that some of the posts i have read on here regarding you are pretty classless and unwarranted.
btw...what did you ever do with that car with out the title. :D
 
I dont know what really happened back then but regardless this story is great and only adds to my liking of SJD.

Even if he got beat... big deal everyone loses. The fact that he drove off in the car and got away with it is funny as hell.

I also like the fight he still has in him even in his later years and his wit is still pretty sharp. I would rather read a thread with him going at it with RJ, or CJ, Mr3, or Punter or whoever than almost any other thread. Imo nothing gets too out of line and its real emotion rather than some hypocritical lets keep it classy bs. Be you SJD, I love it
