To The Top

I think that most people are not real familiar with Mike's work. He apprenticed under Richard Black, then took a vacation. I had one of his early cues that he made while in Black's shop and it hit awesome. Wish I had kept it.

I KNEW HE WORKED/WORKS WITH BILL SCHICK, BUT HAD NO IDEA HE HAD ANY AFFILIATION WITH RICHARD BLACK.

Super Nice Guy

I don't know who all in this post has ever met Mike, but he's a super nice guy.

I live about 5 minutes from Schicks shop, play there from time to time and run into Mike during league play. He's always good for a laugh, especially when he shaved his head, but left his long gray beard. All of that on top of being a fabulous cue maker in a HOF cue makers shop.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Yup Schick

That is one sweet cue Marcus. Good luck replacing it for $2300!
Mike Wheeler's work is as good as it gets.

Yes, he was there for a while. If I remember correctly, Richard would let him use some of his blanks to construct cues with the proviso that he didn't do anything fancy. The one I had was built when he was in Black's shop was a four point ebony into lightly stained birdseye with double maple veneers around the points, stainless 5/16 X 14 joint, with black collars, no rings, no inlays, ebony butt sleeve with delrin butt cap. Very simple, but, hit a ton.

Anyone who buys this cue will not be disappointed in it's playability. I have hit with a bunch of his early cues and they all played awesome. Wish I had the cash!

Wow

That is a beautiful cue. If anyone on AZ knows some amature home surgery techniques for removing a testicle and selling it on eBay lemme know. Course, if it were possible.. there'd be a bunch of members walking around here with a limp. :o

Strange How Much This Cue Looks Like A Schick. Makes Me Wonder.

MAKES ME WONDER TO. EVERYTIME I TAKE THE CUE OUT OF THE CASE, I'M WAITING FOR THE SCHICK LOGO IN THE HOPPE RING..... MAYBE THAT WAS AN EXPENSIVE OPTION THAT THE OWNER DIDN'T WANT

Mottey cues hit a ton. It won`t make them play better, but I thought I`d let you know your web site spells his name wrong (Motty?) everywhere.

Will :o :o ;) :) :p :p

He actually worked for Black for 5 years...learning all the aspects of cue building. When his wife completed Nursing School they moved to Louisiana. He their went to work for Billy Schick. He now, not only works on cues with Billy, but also works @ Billy's Pool Hall, behind the bar.
His work is second to none...and he is truly a great guy.
