AZ Needs a faster Server

I am not having any problems with AZB at all. I have other windows open and other websites up and they each are coming up at the same time - fast. I keep about 6 websites open/up at a time.

Thread title: AZ Needs a faster Server

Are all servers in AZ slow? If it were me, I'd tell him/her to get his/her butt in gear and bring me my shots in a timely fashion! There's a thirsty guy here, and he'll take his business elsewhere if the service doesn't improve!

:D

P.S.: before the computer wannabes come out of the woodwork to "educate" me on what a server is, I'm in I.T. -- don't even try. :grin-devilish:

Maybe I am not tiping enough???

Because it would be the server.. not the bandwidth that would be the issue.. right?

AZ loads just fine for me most of the time. There are a few times it does not, but that is rarely a server issue, and is more likely a bandwidth issue.

Just sayin.

"Typing" or "tipping"?

If the former, yes, if you're AZB's "server" (front-end), you gotta receive the posts and type them into the backend website faster to update the website in a timely fashion. :p

Or if the latter, how does your tipping affect my shots service? Unless the "server" is so teed-off from lack of tipping, that he/she just threw his/her arms up in the air and said "f' it" and went outside for a smoke? :p

J/k of course. Nice to engage in a little levity before my trip to Denver tomorrow morning to spend the holidays with extended family.

I get loaded pretty darn fast. Not an issue for me. ;)

I think you have other issues in play BB. I'd recommend you call Oprah and ask for the exorcism special of the week.

I have 17 windows with a total of 27 tabs running and AZB is still fast.

Wow!

Edit: dang poster is too small... It says "You're doing it right"

Wow, that's a big restaurant/bar -- to have 17 windows. And, they let you open 27 separate tabs and keep them all running? How does the cashier keep track of all that? Why not just consolidate to one tab? It's much easier to pay that way...

:p

It is not my computer, I can open other windows and get on other sites and still be waiting for AZ.

While I agree that AZB seems to have got slower for me over the months... I don't know if they moved to a different Web Host or what. I remember it used to be alot faster.

Something to consider though....

When you go to azbilliards.com data is sent to them and data is constantly sent to them and back to you. In order for your info to get to them and back to you, your requests go to different routers/backbones around the world. This different routers you hit are called "hops" For example, I have close to 22 or so "hops" to get to AZB.

AZ's servers are located in Scottsdale AZ. I'm in the midwest and my route to them goes to Chicago, Denver, California and Arizona.

If your curious how may hops and how long of delays you have between them, you can go click Start, Then Run, then type in cmd and hit Enter.

I black dos box will come up... type tracert azbilliards.com and hit Enter. You will see the route it takes to get there.

Or you can go here http://visualroute.visualware.com/ and download a free edition of VisualRoute and do a Trace Route yourself and see a graphical representation of how it gets there.

Their web host is deru.net, which appears to be a local web host company in Phoenix. Once you get to their servers, their servers have to process your requests and send them back to you. They use Vbulletin forum software and there are large databases that store the years of forum posts. It's sorting thru all that information too.

So it being slow, could be multiple acts that combine to give you a slow experience. Your route to and from their server, the speed of their servers, how many other web sites their hosting and how many are getting hit hard, therefore using up alot of their CPU power.

Long story short... it's slow for me too and doesn't appear to be my route to them for the most part.
