AZ Speed

I've been noticing that my computer seems slower than normal on this forum and it's been going on for a couple of days. Has anyone else had this problem or do I have a computer/internet issue I need to check into?

Thanks,
James

It's been slow at times but not all the time. Johnnyt
My connection is crawling and I have cable internet access through Comcast and I called Comcast tech support and they arranged for me to get a new modem which i've done and it's still seems slow to me. Maybe it's just a heavy load in my area.

I Want Fries With That

It's very slow for me too. I visit about a dozen sites daily and AZB is the only one that's slow-slow-slow. Sometimes it seems to take forever for the pages to load.

I've contacted Verizon DSL and Dell and they say everything is fine.

( I could make an entire Deluxe Club Sandwich while waiting for the pages to load )

Your description is exactly what i'm talking about. I can't even answer a PM without waiting and waiting for the page to load. I got a different cable modem this morning thinking that there was something wrong with my setup.

Same thing here. It can be painfully slow at time. Maybe because the site is busy? I don't know. Seems like this has been happening since Mike changed Servers a while back.

i thought it was just my computer
thanks for the heads up
signed, total computer illiterate :D

Is it just this forum or the entire site? The forum seems to load normally for me most of the time.

I thought the speed was better when the servers were switched? The old server crashed frequently and, when it wasn't crashing, it was just slow.

Things seem fine for me. I'm also on Comcast cable modem service.

FYI the main AZB site and the forums are on two different servers, if I recall correctly. Not sure if they're hosted in the same location or not. The two URLs differ wildly in IP addresses, but that's not unusual within a single hosting location.

Slow here too

Yea it's slow and it is slow sometimes when you think there wouldn't be anybody online like at midnight est. during the week. Who knows maybe we are all night owls.---Leonard

I keep telling the bozos on the nonpool forum that they have viruses :D

Seriously, can you see your 'cookies' folder? If you can't, you have a trojan and you are screwed, because this is where the hackers sometimes put and hide their code. I even used Knoppix and found a hidden file on my desktop laden with hacker code.

Search for in in all files and hidden files for the words: SHIP UNICODE. This is the payload they send you when your computer has been compromised.

If your search finds the file, just double click on this text file and read how the hacker now has you by the balls. My latest text file on my computer (3rd time hacked now) was 278 pages and it only took 22 seconds to run.

Cheers, WW

If this site is responding slowly for you, but other sites are being responsive, then it's not your connection, it's AZ's servers. I don't know what kind of database they use to store the data in the forum, but they're pretty much all notoriously fickle when it comes to performance, particularly Oracle (don't buy into the "it's a big brand name, it must be reliable" crap!). Also their web servers could have load problems, or there could be bandwidth limitations on the server I/O.

In other words, if you can get other sites to respond and load quickly, don't go calling your ISP, your computer and internet connection are probably fine.
