AZB King of Cali...

If you have been doing your "homework," you have a chance

Unfortunately, with the passing of our horse G-Bo a week ago and being in the middle of a bathroom remodel, I haven't been playing or practicing.

When are you going to be king of Tenn or Knoxvegas?
I have a battle royale set up for this weekend with Eagleshot (aka Nannershoes aka Mark) for the coveted title of "King of the TN AZ wannabes". I never play any game except 9 ball because the only time I leave my house is when there is a tournament. We are going to play a short set of 9 ball, 8 ball and banks. My hopes are high but my expectations are realistic. Eagleshot plays quite a bit now and has improved a lot in the past year so it will be a chore to snatch the crown. If I play like I can I have a good shot but if not I will order another beer and congratulate the victor.

I have been out collecting cans all week and have finally scrounged up the $50 post money so at least that is a load off my mind. Wish me luck.

Sorry Jaden, you seemed like a nice enough guy when I met you but you do overestimate your skills. I've played against Sam and you and honestly he could give you the 6 out. I hadn't hit a ball in months when we played and I won a big majority of the games so we switched to one pocket(which I don't even play) and I still won 5 in a row before you finally won a couple. I would have never said anything to you about this but I've seen you make that Sam comment a few times now and someone needs to save your money for you in case you do decide to gamble.

I tried to be respectful to you while you were in Corpus as an AZB member so I didn't woof at you to gamble but my friend did the next day and you had several excuses why you couldn't play according to him. A fair rating IMO of your game is a good B player, nowhere in the league of a AA or maybe even AAA like Sam.

If you are as good as you think, other people will do the chest pumping for you.

You're right Shane....

Shane is a real good player and I can trust his assessment of my game. So I will accept that I am a B player and adjust everything from there.

Jaden.

Frankncali - Hail to the King!

Poolhustler - When and where is the big game taking place?

Jaden - Well done for stepping up and getting the ball rolling in CA.

Just to be clear, this should be S.Cali. Until the champ makes it to N.Cali. we don't have a King of Cali:cool:

Jayden good on you. Good move. Most players dont even realize they suck. They go on thinking they are better then what they actualy are. All they are doing is fooling themselfs into thinking they are were they want to be. It is very dificult to learn or improve when you dont know or dont think you need to. Remeber when you first got hooked? how hungry you were? How fast you progressed? You Knew you sucked and you wanted to get better. And you did!! I dont personaly know you but this is how it is for just about all of us at first. Now you hit a plateu amd you need help.
I am not kidding go talk to Louie. If you litsen and do the work you will get over the hump.

Rep for you!!

Perhaps that will work.

Only one thing here... Manole isnt going to give Jaden the 6-out. There was no need for that comment.
How about something along the lines of I played you both and Shane appeared to be a much more polished player.

Sam plays great and I respect his game alot. Jaden plays well and isn't in Sammy's league just yet. No harm there.

That one time you and I played, if I remember correctly, I'd make a mistake early in the rack and then watch you run-out. This happened over and over and over and over. IMO, 'bama can play!

Oh, needless to say, I got drilled.

Spoken in perfect "Marketing Manager" form !!!

As Efren says ... I got Lucky !

One day I will get it together. That day might only come a bunch lighter.

Sounds good. I work on the West side and live in the Valley. We could play at my house if you want.

Corey did give me some pointers about 3 weeks ago and I have played about 3 hours since! I better watch it, I'm starting to sound like Fatboy!!

I will probably come down to HT this weekend to watch a little of the 14.1. I do want to play pretty bad, but it's my B-Day weekend and there were some plans already made for me.

About the transformation, there are a million ways to do it, but only one right one in my opinion. Lifestyle change! Best of luck to you and I'd be more than happy to share my experience with you.

grinds, I am a B player. I know I suck comparred to the champions. In the grand scheam of all players a B player is very good, however they are not even close to a world champ. If a B player believes he has arived or thinks he/she is an A player then they may be satisfied and their progression stalls. If that same B player realizes how far they have to go to become great it is inlightning. Some will will see the task as unatainable or too difficult or not worth the effort and loose their hunger. Others will see the how far they need to go and will continue to work untill they get there. They are the ones who become great. This is what I call "realizing you suck" Its no soo much that you suck, its more realizing how much you dont know or how far you are from being great.

MattS

I was just trying to say that the way you say things on a forum can be taken in the wrong context very easily. Especially when you use inflamatory language. Talking about oneself with derogatory terms.....no problemo.... about others......go easy. That's all I meant.

Oh...and by the way ....I know I play like crap....

so I totally missed the party...

p.s. I will still play Melinda, but unfortunately I don't know if I'll be able to do it on a weekend or exactly when I will do it. You see as usual I opened my mouth and inserted a dump truck.

I told my wife that I wouldn't do anything pool related for the rest of the year if she would let me go.

She did say that I can still do pool related things twice a week but not on the weekends. When I give my word I mean it, so I can't in good conscience ask her to give more than that. So if it absolutely has to be on the weekend I won't be able to do it this year.

...and I suppose I'll have to be content with the fact that, in the end, a chick got you under control anyways... ;)

I'm not in So-Cal, but I have the prerequisite posts, and am residing in California.
Does your challenge also encompass NorCal players?
And how would we get that tiara moved to the northern part of the state if you are at least 6 hours out of the way.
Not exactly worth the drive for a couple of $50 games...
But I'm sure I can find some tables to work on that direction to make it worth while to drive closer.
And since I don't play tournaments, gamble, smoke, cuss, or chew, nor associate with those that do, it should be a fairly easy game for someone! (it was all I could come up with...)
Of course I also haven't gotten onto a table more than a dozen times since the end of March, either.......lol
We could call it the "FrankinCali Warmup"!

Hey, how about a King of Cali three ball tourney!
$50 a man per round would make for a great way to spend a Saturady afternoon!
Of course since I'm not the king I would have to get the last two from you right?!
