AZB room at Super Billiards Expo!!

Hey Timberly

There is a room, upstairs from the main level, next to the Grotto restaurant. I think it's called the "Gettysberg Room" or sumthin like that. This room used to be the "practice tables" where all the action was. As the expo grew, this was too small, but would be ideal for 3 bar boxes and could hold about 50-60 people comfortably. This would be the best private room area for this hoohaa. The past few years, this room has been empty, so maybe the Scanticon wouldn't mind giving it up.

I'm in for whateva, be it money or some time to help with the logistics. PM me if you need.

That sounds perfect.

Timberly, where are you? Don't tell me you're working :D

What makes you think any AZB'ers will be left standing by Sun nite?!

Because they're a hearty party bunch!

Barbara~~~sleeps until checkout time, goes home, takes two or three naps, and then goes to bed at 9 pm...

I'm realitively new to the forum. I will be attending the Expo considering it is right around the corner from me. It would be great to meet some people. I don't post much, but I get on every day and see what is going on.

That sounds GREAT Eric, thanks! I'll mention it to Dawn.

I don't think getting out of there by 4 would be a problem. Depending on who is in the finals, I might be gone about that time anyway. Unless I've got a friend playing in the finals, I might opt for a late check out and head home between 3 & 4. Since I'm the one taking responsibility for the room, it would close when I leave.

I'll let ya'll know what Dawn says about this room. Thanks again!

Koop, yes I was at work... they changed things up & we started today instead of tomorrow.

This way cool because I plan to go. I've been to VF from '00-03 and then in '05 (didn't get to enjoy it that well though...). One reason why I planned on not attending was because of the smoke. Now I'm NOT trying to starting any smoking/non-smoking wars, but I honestly did get sick when I stayed in the building to long. They say that this year will be smoke free, I'll believe it when I see it. I take it that the AZ room won't be smoke free...will it? I'd still stop by to meet everyone, but I don't know how long I'd be able to stay though.:(

Even though I'm a smoker, I think it's best to keep the room smoke free. Should we get the room that Eric was talking about, the front doors to the Scanticon are right around the corner so the smokers wouldn't have very far to go.

For the folks that smoke and aren't happy about this, I apologize. Having been both a smoker and a non smoker, I can tell that smoke is a vile smell to those that don't smoke. Smokers don't notice it, but it's definitely vile.

I think this is the only fair way to do this.

Isn't the part of that room you are talking about used fro registration?

Timberly would have to ask Dawn about when she gives it up. Yes, it is used for that wildly enjoyable (not!) activity called Registration, but that's done on Wednesday night/ Thursday morning. Then I think that room is pretty much free until the Staff party on Sunday night.

I have no idea. I didn't know about the room until Eric brought it up. I don't play in any of the events so I've never had a need to go to the registration desk.

Good deal. I hope this comes to be. By the sounds of the room at DCC, this should be a good time.

I agree completely. With the ban on smoking in Massachusetts I have learned to go outside to keep up this filthy habit and I don't think the presumed minority(me included) should impose their will on the majority.

I hope this happens and if I don't find a sale of my Sherbine within the next couple of weeks I may just auction it off to go towards the room. Hell, my Skip will be ready soon anyway so may as well go to a good cause.

In the email that I sent, I requested the room for Fri, Sat, & a half day Sun. There won't be very many people there on Thur and it will give me time to set up and get things in order.

I think you should be good on those days. The Women's and all the Junior events start on Friday, so it should be clear until Sunday afternoon. They should have to register by Friday morning and the Player's Meeting is 10 am Friday.

Sorry I can't be of more help. Dawn Hopkins knows the two hotels, reservations, and room layouts better than their own management does for that convention. Sad, but true.

This is such a true statement Barbara.. I know with working with Pheasant Run, the staff/convention service management has such a heavy turnover, that you end up telling them what they can and can't do

Eydie> hopefully will be covering the event for AZBilliards IF she can get her room at the event...

AZB at SUPER BILLIARDS EXPO!

This is starting to sound like a really good time! I was unable to go to DCC and this will go a long way towards making up for missing it. I finally got to go to the expo again last year. I used to be a regular attendee but cicumstances prevented that from happening for a few years. This room for the AZB crowd will make the Expo even more fun than ever. If you need any assistance on the weekend just PM me and ask. My wife does not play but will be more than happy to come on down and party with everyone. The Expo really has come a long way from it's humble beginnings at the NJ Convention center in Secaucus where it all began, I remember it very well. I guess I better start to practice before March so I can try to keep up with all the hot sticks. Just let me know what you need, I am very accomodating when others need a hand. (References available on request[LOL], just ask any one who knows me!)
