OK gang, we did this sort of thing a few years ago and I am thinking about doing it again so that we can raise some funds for Katrina relief.

I am sure that I can line up some nice items to auction off on the site.

What are everyone's thoughts?

Mike

Mike i have a great idea to raise relief money.

I dont know if its possible to add v cash to peoples accounts. Why dont you do some kind of deal for us to get some more vcash. I posted this in a link earlier today.

Maybe 500 for 5 bucks. No overhead or anything invloved and i am sure alot of us would like to gain some more v cash to bet on the US open.

Maybe make it a penny a vcash point. Something cheap so alot of people can chip in.

The auctioning of products is great, but i think alot of us would be willing to send a 5 or 10 spot for the cause .

Just my thought.

Great Idea, but please consider Senting the Money to the Local Salvation Army in the Katrina Area. ;)

As the RED CROSS seem alway to Hold Back donations, for other projects.... Like 14-16%

I'm in

Count me in... Are we selling only pool related items on this site or are you using E-bay or something. (Excuse my ignorance, I'm new) If anyone wants to do a live auction I'm an auctioneer liscensed in Maryland & Pa... Be more than willing to donate my time as long as it's not too far away cause I don't know if my ole van will make it :)

We would do an online auction here on the site. I was thinking that it would be all billiards stuff, since that is the sort of contacts that we have to gather the items.

I like the idea of accepting donations for more vCash. I wonder if I can set up an item in the marketplace for that. I will check on it now.

I like it. I have some stuff, that I would send. Post an address, to send donations to.

Mike,
I am glad you are starting a charity for the Katrina victims. It is wonderful!
Like I said before in another thread, America has always been the first to help other countries in need; although I am a Canadian, I would love to donate a brand new X Breaker($350 of value) with the winner chosing the weight and color to help the victims of Katrina.
We are planning on making the debut of the X Breaker in the US during the US Open so I can give you the cue there, if not, I can ship it to you.
Thank you very much.
Regards,
Richard

It Funny Fun Money, THANKS.... ;)

auction

I'd be glad to throw in a couple pool portraits for the auction. I suggested doing this at Shooters for this past labor Day tourny. Just too much was going on for Bill or Alex to get something going. There was a good crowd, we could have raised quite a few bucks.

GREAT Idea, Mike!

Seems I don't need any V Cash.....got 13,500 socked away, waiting for just the right bet to come along!!

These people (hurricane relief) sure need some help badly. Let's get the ball rolling!!

I am wondering if anyone would support the idea of a raffle.

I know a lot of the Azers are saving up for the US Open and all the coming events so may be we are all a bit tight at the moment.

Raffle tickets will be cheaper to buy than placing a bid in an auction.

Besides, I am hoping since it is cheaper to buy a raffle ticket, may be we can get more Azers to participate so the amount we get at the end will be bigger.

The winner can win an item worth much more than what he/she has paid for and the proceed is being put to a very meaningful charity.

Also, this way, Azers can buy raffle on many items he/she likes instead of tie up all the money on one or two bids.

If each Azers spends $5 to $10 on a raffle tickets, we can get from $5000 to may be over $20,000 since there are some 3000 members on this forum.

I will trust Mike to do the raffle at the end and then the persons who donate the items can just ship the items to the winners directly. This should also make it easier for Mike.

I think this would generate more money for the charity and the winners of the raffle will get the best deal on billiard items.
