Here's Jerry -R-'s interpretation of the century old famous Brunswick one piece model 36 cue. This cue is a one piece cue, with a projected joint size that will be modern day size at 0.840" so it can be a home player, and conversation cue.

I really never thought anyone would attempt this MONSTER!!! Chris Tate challenged Jerry, and OMG!!!!! Thank you guys!

Enjoy.

John

Wow....totally awesome. Loving how this kind of work is making a comeback.

I am guessing in the first post, the "joint size" just refers to the size the cue will be where the joint would be in a two piece cue ?

The whole joint size thing is confusing. Is this to be a 36 or 360?

mrinsatiable: The original #36 was a one piece, not jointed. The #360 was a two piece jointed cue.

Has anybody done a #36 before?

Okay...I have to admit that I too an utterly confused (which quite honestly doesn't take much!)...I just reread the OP...it makes a point about the joint...(hey, I'm a poet this morning!)

At this point I am assuming the implication is that the design of the splices will be as a #36 but the dimensions will be modern; as in the diameter and tapers. The mention of the "joint" being 0.840" is just a specification of the diameter in the mid point of the cue and there is in fact no joint.

That's where I am at.

I think you're right. The title seems confusing to me, everything else points to killer one piece cue. I know a very good player, eccentric at best, who rides his bicycle to my room every day and carries a one piece snooker cue in a PVC tube. Great looking cue here.

You are right on. Sorry if my info was confusing.

-R- wasn't 100% sure this cue would stay a one piece cue while trying to keep everything on center. He wanted to fulfill Chris Tate's challenge to any modern day builder of completing a Brunswick model 36 one piece cue. That is a MONUMENTAL challenge. So Jerry's version of a model 36 that will never be mistaken for an original because of his purposeful changes in the veneers, butterflies, points and modern day diameters where the joint would normally be located. It also will be 58" in length which fits today's standards amd playability.

I can't wait to see it up close and personal. It has to be a Kick A$$ cue.

John...with this being a ONE-PIECE, you hit the nail on the head when you said "monumental"!!! Leave it Jerry to attempt...and pull off something like this!!!

Jeezus. Getting one set of points even seems to require some mental and physical gymnastics as far as I know. This many? Over that length?

Jerry did it! I don't even believe it. This cue is truly a prize. I know that this was a tremendous amount of work. Jerry put a few of his little twists on the cue too.

This cue here belongs in the cue show. John, I don't know if you plan to display in the ICCS in Vegas in November - I would love to see it - PM me if your intertested - it's right up your alley. It's a lot of fun.

Amazing and congratulations.

Especially when you consider that the makers of the original cues of this type weren't overly concerned with keeping the points even. They churned them out and many were slightly off to terribly off center.

The modern makers attempting these are under a microscope that Brunswick's makers never had to deal with. You have an amazing piece Chris.

Absolutely.

He's taking the idea....and making it the ideal......the potential and making it reality.

This cue goes beyond what the original ever was IMHO and becomes what it only ideally could have been.

Now we're talking about what -R- is doing. Thank you for all the positive remarks about Sir Jerry's challenge. It will highlight his legacy.

He's 69 now and who knows how many more years he will build cues. I personally feel his cues are Such a great value for the craftsmanship, they are a steal in today's marketplace. IMHO Someday people will begin to compare his points to the best of the past and realize how beautiful they really are.

I can't wait to hold this cue in my hands. When I do, I'll post new pics soon.

Well said. I think he is one of the most underrated cuemakers out there and he has been around forever and his work is so nice. I am amazed to see the prices in that they go for on here used, total steals.
