Meh whichever wood it is, could make a pretty solid conversion. I think....
i am by far not an expert
but i think wenge and oak also.
i have been playing for 65 years and have been building for about 20. i have done dozens of titlist conversions, and owned dozen and dozens of willie hoppe titlist. i have never hear of or seen a bocote titlist.
having said that brunswick did not keep very good records of their hardwood purchases, and as with most manufactors they bought materials at the best prices. when they were building the hoppe's there were a lot of other hardwoods much cheaper to be had other than bocote.

Holy cow Chuck! Either you started playing when you were 2, or you must 80+ (j/k). I thought I'd been playing a while at 42 years! You make a great playing cue, sir...I have to call you sir, 'cause you're my elder (and I'm 60!

Pretty well confirmed the Titlist is oak. The type of wood for the 26 1/2 is up in the air. Getting a confirmation next week hopefully.

i played in leagues for 47 years.
i played my first game at my rich cousin's house at age 5. i just fell in love seeing those colored balls roll around of that green cloth. i'll be 70 this fall. i have a table at my house. a buddy came over yesterday. we drank about a 12 pac each and played one pocket for 5 hrs. i still love to play.

kudos to you sir!...I am the same about loving the game, even though I never touched a cue until I went to college. However if I could even drink a 12 pack (not likely...I know, I'm a lightweight) I'd be too hammered to play pool! LOL
