I was just informed that due to other financial obligations Billiards Ink in Englewood, Colorado are having to cancel the exhibition and challenge match featuring Johnny Archer and Dennis Hatch. The event was suppossed to take place on Friday Dec 3rd.

Obviously none of us are happy about this especially at such short notice as alot of work has gone into making this happen and schedules re arranged etc.

I am sorry to anyone who was planning to attend but it is out of my hands. Hopefully we will be able to make something big happen in the Denver area in the future.
I keep trying :(
Mark,

Wow, you just can't seem to catch a break.

Sorry to hear this.

I do applaud your tenacity in continuing to try to get things done.

Best,

Wow, that too bad. Did the guys already have plane tickets? I assume so, since the match was for tomorrow!

Mark,

I'm bummed - I was looking forward to seeing you again and watching 2/5 of our Mosconi team in action. Catch you next time.

Thanks for working your ta-tas off to try to make stuff happen. It will come.

Dave

Thats to bad Mark, I think this is what a lot of pool fans in Denver could have enjoyed. I started a thread once complaining that these events don't seem to make it to the mile high city, there were a host of reasons why these bigger names don't get to Denver often but I never saw this one coming.

Thanks for trying Mark and don't give up on Colorado ;).

And a special thanks to Johnny and Dennis good luck at the Mosconi cup.

I just heard from the famous Dave Hughes, that there is still going to be an
exhibition tomorrow night at BI with Dennis Hatch and Johnny Archer.

Has anyone else heard this?

Since this is the first time that I've heard of the challenge match between Archer and Hatch in Denver on 12/3, this suggests to me that you guys really need to do a better job of advertising and promoting these events.

I read about it here several weeks ago and I believe there is a website that is dedicated to it.

It has been advertised on internet forums, All the APA, BCA league operators in the area have been told and told me that they were going to send out emails and put the flyers in the packets. I also have had people I knowin Denver let all their friends know about it. Other than that there isn't a whole lot more I can do. We do our best to keepthe cost for these things down and so for us to take a ad out in magazines etc isn't really an option. The pool room also told me that they were putting the flyers out onthe tables and hung in the pool room.
Is there something else that you think I should be doing that will get the word out more? Please let me know as I am always willing to learn something new. Thanks

Might be a good idea to get deposits from now on.
Atleast Airfare and expenses
Sorry to hear that and thanks for your efforts

If you ever make it to my area, spreading the word wont be a problem.
Every player knows every player, It would be the talk of the town.
Good Luck and you are doing a great job

For whatever reason, the word just isn't getting out about these types of events. IMO, marketing and advertising is crucial to generating interest in pool. I hope you'll take my feedback constructively as I'd very much like to see these events happen.

One idea might be to have a database of pool players with names, email addresses and location. With a pool player database, you can send out broadcast emails of upcoming events, news and so forth. You might also be able to solicit donations that would help support these activities.

I was at Billiards Ink two weeks ago and didn't see any ads or flyers posted about the upcoming Archer/Hatch match. Another nearby pool hall that I play at, Rack 'em in Aurora, didn't have any flyers or ads posted either.

There is always going to be a problem when you are not in the area and have to rely on the pool room owner or anyone else to make sure that they are getting the word out. As far as the other room you go to there are not many pool rooms that will promote another pool rooms events. I am not saying that this is the case in all areas but for the most part. I appreciate your input.

It's almost like each state needs a 1 stop spot to look for upcoming announcements. And then people need to spread the word of these websites for each state. All pool rooms could put there stuff in one place for free and not have to worry about promoting in other rooms.

hmm.

Maybe something like
MyPoolScene.com/Colorado
MyPoolScene.com/Arizona

:)

I was going to show up for this and see other local AZB people. Are any of the AZB people going to show up anyway?
I could put my legendary Lucasi on display if that would help.
