Bait Words: For Gambling

Some other decent ones

"Ya we can prolly play some, but whats your APA level?"

A nice move I like to pull is very first shot I take, purposly miscue and table scratch. When he tries to take BIH I argue with him, pretending not to know what a table scratch is, and evetually give in. (this is really only for bar hustlin, and normally gets them to bump the bet pretty quick)

"What are BCA rules? You mean apa rules?"

I am a bit younger so I normally like to say something to my friends that they can over hear like

"No way this old fart can beat me.."

Used to have a thing back in NJ in the old days.
Two guys woofing hot and heavy.Make a game.
One guy says "Dump".
Both empty thier pockets and they play for the amount thats the smallest.
I saw guys even count thier change.

Man I wish people had gamble like that here.

I just offer more and more, but they don't take it, so I say.

IT TAKES ALL THREE HEART GAME AND BANKROLL. Sadly most pool playes are lacking in these areas, most NEED A HEART TRANSPLANT!

I dont know many real gamblers that make a game based off what someone calls them. The guys who do that are known by another word: Fish.

YEP... if you base your match ups on name calling you really should go play miniature golf.

What you 2 know it alls are forgetting is a small thing called pride and or ego.

I have gotten a lot of strong players either give me to much weight or take to little with me by assulting their pride or ego.

Do you mean like "you're the Az what? of Louisiana"
Just kidding Joey, hope you have a Merry Christmas.

Mike L.

Oldies

How 'bout, "stand on your head and shake, whatever falls out we'll bet"!

or another old challenge chant, "ya got no gamble" or "how much gamble you got there champ"?

I was referring to the guy falling for the bait... not the one doing the baiting.
I never get in between a player and his action.
Far be it from me to be a Chalk-Blocker.

Hey JoeyA,
How about my favorite, Let me bump that rump a few cheap sets! Or did I give you your wallet back last time we played? I could use a good rack man!I can put your wallet on a diet for you real cheap, in short sets! I heard you could not make a ball, and I am willing to pay to see if they lied!
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

C'mon, I'll play you left handed (or one handed, or with the bridge).
I could spot you the rainbow and still beat you.

Nothing gets me more than a loudmouth who thinks he can take my money giving me a handicap...great ones ray

In that case the strong player was a fish.

Most really good gamblers I know are not the strongest players. Its usually the opposite in fact with the odd exception that proves the rule.

But then what do I know about guys who gamble on pool?

Now back to the regularly scheduled pseudo-woofing.

Joey,

You don't need to go through all this...just ask John Henderson to play like a gentleman and he'll say yes. ;) :)

I heard Boston Shorty say to a would be gambler that "on the green felt, I could shoot you right between the eyes." This definitely got under the guy's skin and, before you knew it, they were in action.

This is second hand, but I was told that a road player once complained to CJ Wiley in the mid-1990's that there weren't enough pro tournaments. As legend has it, CJ replied that "there is a $10,000 added tournament in my poolroom every night," the meaning being that the guy could come and bet $10,000 playing against CJ anytime he wanted. Now that CJ posts here, I hope he'll chime in if this is just myth, but it sounds like the kind of thing CJ would have said back then.
