Bushka

Great classic Bushka, your a lucky guy! Love the ring above the wrap, and the red!

My favorite Bushka

Hands down one of the finest Balabushka cues to be posted on AZB. Thanks for sharing your cues. I am sure your inbox is getting full with offers already.

Poor design?

Sorry, but I disagree on the aesthetics of this cue. The black-white-black ring above the wrap clashes with the red-white-wood-white-red theme of the butt. The thick black bands are totally out of place, and detract from the overall look of the cue, or, more precisely, of a photo of the cue.
Take care,
Nick

This was put together in the 70's - Almost everything at that time would be clashing now... For that period George hit it right on the nose. That cue is awesome - Classic.

Hi again,
Cover up the butt of the cue and just look at the forearm and the offending (to me) black-white-black ring. The ring is even a misfit to just the wood and decorative elements of the forearm and wrap.
I realize that criticizing a Balabushka is anathema to many (and hence the Sorry in my first post), but design is design.
Take care,
Nick

In a time most were using a toothpick off the wall, this was the Bugatti of cues. It is much easier to criticize in the days of cnc, computer aided design, etc... This cue and inlays were made with an old lathe, band saw, and a drill press. And many of them still play great today, because of their construction.

The design fit and even surpassed the time. It even surpasses our time in many ways. But the bands did more than just add a bit of character/color above the wrap. It served a functional purpose for Bushka. You can look up what that was. While looking good is cool, is it more important than having the best hitting cue at your disposal? The players of the time did not seek out Bushka because his cues were "pretty". Always remember, World Champions sought him out, not the other way around...

I am sure I am missing a few guys that WON championships with their cues. However, its a pretty solid roster considering they all paid for their cues.

You did miss one I know of, the biggest one in fact. Mosconi lol... Unless you were just speaking of winning championships with the cue. Mosconi had retired is the only reason he did not. But he still sought out Bushka...
BTW, what a list that is.... Crane was my favorite. The man bought class to a pool table...
