The rail connected to the pocket doesn't count. Otherwise you could just go rail first and call it a bank.
Someone might argue you hit the rail above the side, but some will still count the shot as one rail.

Under WPA rules, no, it isn't legal. Here's the pdf, but I'll paste 13.5 under "Bank Pool." [p42]

13.5 VALID BANK SHOTS
For a bank shot to be valid, the athlete must indicate the object-ball, one or more cushions in order thatthe ball will contact, and the pocket the object-ball will go into. Incidental cushion contacts on the two rail sections adjoining the target pocket as the ball enters the pocket are not counted as cushion contacts for or against the shooter.

In addition, the following requirements must be met. The cue-ball must contact the called ball before it contacts any other ball or any rail. The called ball must not contact any other object-ball or the cue-ball a second time. The object-ball must not contact uncalled rails except for the incidental contact mentioned above. There must be no foul during the shot.

Catching the top jaw to straighten it out is not the adjacent rail. So, inning over, ball spots up.

Nobody plays that rule that I have ever seen in almost 70 years of playing.
Call the pocket only.

Agreed, this is how it should be.

... I’m adding Jay because I believe this has been called good in the past
This has been discussed before and I believe someone said that the point was ignored at DCC, so the shot would be good. I think it should be counted as a separate rail. I don't think it makes too much difference, but I think off the point and along that long rail to the farther corner pocket should be a valid bank, when the point is the only rail contact.

it needs to be good. you bank off the short rail to along side the perpendicular long rail and it travels down it bumping along the way both splits of it and goes in, its a good bank .
bumping the parallel rail to the balls line of travel isnt taken against you.

tournaments can make any rule they want so be it.

question? does the table have 4 rails or 6 rails.

so jay its called a long rail bank. but it starts off the short rail and travels along near the long rail which is two pieces. right.

so if it touches the upper piece, the bank is no good. ?

but touches the lower piece it is? it has to, or be a clean bank which isnt required.

then the long rail is considered two rails?

It's 1000% legal. Every DCC there is a player's meeting and they cover hitting the side pocket tit on the way to the corner. It doesn't matter which of the two side pocket tits it hits, its good.

ps I just made that shot a few weeks ago to win the set, was funny as hell for us at the pool room. We were playing backpocket 9 ball, not banks, but the shot was the same.

I respect your game but we would've had an argument after that. Simply put, you missed that shot and slopped it in. An example would be the video linked below, in banks if you call cross side with this shot, you better call 3 rails because that's how many you hit. In banks you call 1 rail, 2 rails, 3 rails, etc. In your shot you hit two rails, the rules posted above clearly show that.

To me, this is like playing ten ball without the ability to give the shot back to the player that missed - it adds slop to a game that is not a slop game.

The game in my video was backpocket 9 ball. It's played like regular 9 ball until you are on the 9. Then it's played like one pocket, where each player must make the 9 in their own hole (but the holes are at the head end of the table). There is no calling any shot in this game.

For "Bank Pool" specifically, I've played in 5 or 6 DCC's, and to my recollection the player's meetings (that I did attend) say hitting any tit on the side pocket on the way to the corner is a good shot.
