So the question is really, is it reliable to bank using CTE/PRO ONE using (this is a very general way of putting it) a 2:1 diamond line of aim for soft banks and 3:1 line of aim for firm banks using the above system depending on the type of cut?
OK, lets just take ONE simple shot that you could cut with some ease in the side pocket. Here is the shot setup. Place the object ball 1/2 diamond up table from the side pocket, one diamond away from the cushion. Now place the Cue ball on the same line, 1/2 diamond up table from the pocket and 3 diamonds from the cushion. This puts the CB 2 diamonds away from the OB, set up so that if you hit center to center, the OB would come back straight into the CB.
Now, using ProOne, this is a B/CTE Inside Pivot. That puts the OB in in the center of the side pocket that it is nearest. Same visual, B/CTE but use an outside pivot and it goes cross side, center of the pocket.
Of course, as has been mentioned, if you need to, for position purposes, use inside or outside spin on the CB, then it's going to change the path of the OB and those things, you'll just have to practice. Nobody can tell you exactly how much to allow, because everyones cue hits differently, your tip may induce more or less spin than mine, your "stroke speed" may be different than mine, etc. and on top of that, every table plays differently, but set this shot up and try it, hitting center cue ball, medium speed (I hate that term... Medium... what the heck is "medium". I really like numbers and I use numbers to guage speed, but regardless of terminology, just don't knock the devil out of it)... it just goes in, not having to reference spots on the rail. I don't care about the rail. It's just something that gets in the way of the bank I'm about to make and unless I'm "turning a ball" into a pocket, I don't pay any attention to the rail. Whole different subject, there, so we'll steer clear of that for now.
Just get on the table, if you have a good understanding of Pro One, then you will, after hitting a few balls, be able to see how the same initial alignment will offer 2 different shots. On some shots you can align CTE to the OTHER edge and in many cases, that gives you two more shots, then edge to a or c and inside and outside pivots and that gives you more shots, then 1/8 to 1/8 and inside and outside pivots and that gives you even MORE shots... all from one CB/OB position. Now, there are NOT going to be 8 to 16 shot possibilities from every position on the table, but will (impeding balls aside) be at least two options and sometimes 4 or MORE.
Play with it... let ProOne teach YOU what it can do... you may be surprised. There is one shot that I have learned to love... an easy little 15 degree cut in the corner that, by changing pivots and or edges, can go straight in the corner, cross corner, cross side, 3 in the side, 3 in the corner or 1 in the long corner. 6 shot possibilities from one cue ball/object ball position. Not all high percentage shots, but playing with those lines and knowing where that OB is going to go by changing those perspectives, makes either shot making or SAFETY PLAY options almost endless, all using ProOne.
