You yourself know that which stakehorses are involved, or not involved, or how much certain players are willing to bet, can provide very significant information about whether or not the match is on the level. Much moreso than the score, or caliber of play, of the match.
Of course 99% of the PPV viewers at home have no way of knowing who or what is really involved. They are completely at the mercy of whatever info the promoters put out there that what they are getting is a
real big money match that they paid for. Technology has made it far too easy to put together a quick 2-3 day PPV money grab, then catch a flight to the next stop.
And it's fairly common knowledge that Shane can be very nitty when it comes to pool gambling, even though he is a total go-off at other things like casino craps. Remember, the advice "when 2 pros play, bet on the guy without the stakehorse" seems to hold up more often than not.
Since we're on the subject of how it all looks the same..... didn't you pull Shane up when he was 3 games loser to Tony Chohan, playing 500/game, some years ago, because you didn't like what you saw?
