Traded in the Szams

Cue-Tec taught Barry everything he knows. ;) As a matter of fact i dumped all my Szams and Bushkas and loaded up on Cue-Tec's today-I didnt get as many cues as I had to give up but now I'm a part of something(first time in my life :) ). After reading several threads about their future value, and automatically being a pro when I play with one, I had to make the switch over. Additionally I'm a member of their site and get emails too. Barry is a great guy....but I wasnt a member and he didnt email me :( so I had to go with a established cue maker.....Cue-Tec.

Good choice. I would have done the exact same thing if I were you. Sadly, I can't afford a Cuetec, so I may never get to be a pro. Maybe someone could lend me one sometime. I better talk to DCP.

PS: I hear the secret is something called SST.

Was it LUCKY??

I can't answer the question per say, because I wasn't aware of Barry's ever having had an apprentice, but I can shed this light on the subject. When Gus was still making cues, Barry was never allowed to make an entire cue. He only made parts. Barry made his first cue after Gus died. Barry's three sons don't plan to become cuemakers, however two have already made an entire cue, and the oldest son and Barry are working on his doing that now. Just some trivia right from the man himself...Tom

Very funny. Very clever. But we all know that those "one of one Dale Perry" cues are gonna be worth way more than Szamboti could dream of. Gosh, I thought you'd know that, being the owner of so many Cuetechs and all.

Teacher & Apprentice?

How could Art Teach Gus then learn from Barry? I've got to consult the oracle on this one. Anybody know the area code to NM? So many myths, so little time.

Knowledge and experience is only part of the process; how do you teach an apprentace to put their heart and soul into their work? How would one learn this as a student? A son's loyalty to extend his father's craft cannot be taught but from a father to a son. There will only be one Barry Szamboti.

Great minds think alike,

As stated previously look at his initails BS, there it is there. I'm sure he is a great guy and no-doubt a quick study-his cues are second only to Cue-Tec, who else builds cues anywhere near as good as Cue-Tec? ;) Bary was very lucky to be chose by Cue-Tec as their student, most cue builders I know would give their left nut to be in that esteemed position.

As a cue collector/player I'm just lucky I have more than one Cue-Tec,

come on Earl the Pearl ( won the million dollars) (reduced to squat) on Cj's tour. In the Camel days. That was surly a cue tech butt. the cue would move through the ball like a hot knife through butter, as if it weren't even there. mark

Cue-Tec my ass! Have you ever played with one? How did Earl ever do it? I have no idea. He told me once it took him over a year just to learn how to play with that club.

They don't even make good firewood! Quit showing off Fatboy! If I find any Cue-Tecs at your house, I'm giving them to the gardeners. :)

At least the gardners would have something in their hands and look like they are doing something, small houses are the only thing to own, I'm so sick of big estates It makes me sick.

All joking aside, Bill is right.

Id like to be Tad's apprentice, If I were going to be a cue maker.. I really like his style when it comes to the more fancy cues.. Whitch is what I would make, a plain jane would be rare in my shop..
