After talking this over with me & several of his friends that he turns to for advice, we have decided the good certainly outweighs the negatives; such as:
1. One ballroom
2. One day less
3. Matches still as posted prior
4. No 11 pm or midnight matches
5. Lower entry for all
6. $74,000.00 added instead of $72,000.00
7. Prize fund breakdown really good and still pays deep
8. Using the additional ballrooms for our amateur events on 7 ft. tables.
We have brainstormed about what could possible not be so good, any additional ideas?
Below is the final decision.
2014 U.S. Open Player Entries
By Barry Behrman – Founder & Promoter
As quoted in the movie Titanic when the ship was going down saying “This is it”, well now this also applies to finalizing my decision which will not change; that’s 100% gospel. With the many other options I’ve explored about this year, we will be sticking to the plan of 128 players max field now paying less at $750.00 each; a good thing.
This comes to $96,000.00 and along with my added money, now a little more at $74,000.00 comes to $170,000.00. All announced prior such as the players meeting Sunday October 12th at 4pm and begin play on Monday October 13th at 11am allows us to continue having the Open one full day less, Monday-Saturday.
Those who have paid $1,000.00 or $800.00 will receive cash back as soon as you arrive, thank you. Match schedule will be the same, Monday through Friday at 11am, 1pm, 3pm, & 5pm for day matches , take a short break and continue having only two night matches starting at 8pm & 10pm; no late, late matches. In the other two ballrooms we will be conducting an amateur event, details soon, at the Marriott and at Q-Masters.
I’m sorry for thinking of many other ways, always working towards excellence for everyone involved; sponsors, players, our greatest fans, vendors, and more who count on me no matter what as I have for 38 years and counting.
Again, this is my final decision which I feel strongly about and I hope you truly like this as well because, again, “This is it”

Prize Fund Breakdown:
1st $30,000.00
2nd $15,000.00
3rd $10,000.00
4th $7,000.00
5th-6th $6,000.00 each
7th-8th $5,000.00 each
9th-12th $4,000.00 each
13th-16th $3,000.00 each
17th-24th $2,500.00 each
25th-32nd $2,000.00 each
33rd-48th $1,375.00 each
$170,000.00 total
This breakdown is for a $750.00 entry fee is very nice and 33rd-48th receiving almost double their entry fee is also very nice.
