For years now all we hear on the news is NEGATIVITY. We all have become annoyed at listening to politicians of ALL parties pointing fingers and the ''my way or the highway'' attitudes seem pervasive.
Of those that have had great parents, or those raising children, or those that already have, we've learned by their example.
How about we just all act better than those that are representing us and the media that constantly ''comes with the negative waves''.
Donald Sutherland said it yrs ago as a tank unit commander....................
QUIT WITH THE NEGATIVE WAVES.

Its simple, effective and we then don't sound like the political mess and the childish he said she said attitudes that we all ran into in kintergarden and elementary school.
Lets all rise above this mess in our own small way, and make a small difference.

And eliminate the most important aspect of being a fan? Get serious.

Will this solve my aiming problem? I close both eyes when I shoot. Please advise.

It's the education level that permits negativity, violence, and intolerance. Go to a campus like UNC and you'll realize there are many great, kind, understanding people walking around enjoying life, while learning. Total opposite of what you see on TV and the movies.

You're stupid. This post sucks. I hate everything about it, and you are probably an ass in real life. How dare you impose your view of things on us here!!

Wait...what I meant to say is: great idea. It is a noble ideal, but seems VERY hard for people to implement. The problem is that most people are very afraid of being wrong. Not even on the conscious level. It is like part of the psyche...it must defend itself at all costs. Being wrong causes one to call their beliefs into question. For most, their beliefs are like the bedrock that their emotional stability requires to keep from sinking into the abyss. Defensiveness is SOOOOO common in all walks of life. People need to make sure that they are "in the know", look cool, have the right answer, are considered good, smart, capable, etc. You gotta admit, the variety and intricacy of defensiveness is quite a testament to the capability of the brain and mind.

Anyway, we can all try our best. Very nice post. God I hope no one comes on and disagrees with *this* one!!

All about being positive

A number of years back I was visiting with a buddy who was managing a minor league ball club. Following a game that was sloppily lost, he had just finished reading the riot act to the team when the GM of the major league affiliate walked in his office and suggested that he needed to stress more positivity... he stood there quietly for a few minutes before stepping out into the clubhouse and whistled the players close. When all had gathered round, he calmly said that it had just been pointed out to him that he was going about things all wrong and should have a more positive approach... then said, just to show you guys how positive I can be, he said, “I’m effing positive that if all you mf’ers don’t pick up your game, you’ll be effing gone”. He turned around walked back into his office, looked at the GM and asked: ‘how’s that’.
He was canned not too long after that.
Today he’s a well respected manager of a major league club (obviously a different organization)

Sorry, Bill, couldn't help it :)))

They do. It's just the prettiest place I've ever seen. There is a path with hundred year old trees lined up on both sides. Their trunks are as big as a minivan. Hundreds of them shading your every step to whichever class you're walking to. That's all I remember because it was years back. I would want my kids going there. If you need a 4.o and an unreal sat score to attend, I wonder how good the teachers are.

I think if the kids attending that school runs the world everything would be ok.

That ain't my fault, Oddball, I've done nothing but have good thoughts about that damn bridge ever since we left!

thinking positive made me a bunch of dollars and saved my job!

Gotta agree with the benefits of thinking positive. Not only do we make the area around us a better place, we feel better ourselves and at least in my case it had cash value.

I had a business in a small city. I and everyone in my business, all my customers too, were in a slump. For a month or two I joined in the b!tching and bellyaching with my customers and friendly competitors. Then I made a deliberate decision to try to lift myself up by my bootstraps. Everyone that asked how my business was doing I told it was doing great! When they questioned my honesty I maintained I was doing just fine. I wasn't doing nearly as well as usual but looking at it from one perspective I was doing great. In three weeks time my business had picked up and I was genuinely doing great in all respects. It took six or eight months for the people around me to get rolling again. We all hit another little slump a few years later. I knew what to do this time, worked like a bandit once again!

I was working one of the nicest easiest jobs I ever had years later. Fairly interesting, spending my days doodling on a computer in the air conditioning all day, light work load, good pay. The work load was so light that all my co-workers had time to b!tch and complain about how hard they worked and how bad the job was for hours a day. Afrer a few months I started nodding my head in sympathy, even putting in the odd comment. In six months time I hated the job. Made up my mind that I was gonna quit this chicken outfit if I had to sit on my ass or pick up beer cans out of the ditch!

Fortunately that was on a Friday. Saturday a cool breeze of common sense blew threw. I said to myself, "Fool, this is one of the best jobs you ever had!" I had worked very hard for my money in the past. Swinging wrenches, roughnecking on an oil rig, climbing iron hanging sheet metal and insulation, all in brutal heat or cold. I came to work Monday with a serious attitude adjustment. No more negative comments, no more hanging around negative conversations. Positive comments from me and a positive attitude dealing with other people. In a week I was happy on my job and kept it for years. Oddly enough with cutbacks the other people had to work more and more over the years and the more they worked the less time they had to complain and the happier they were.

A little competiton related information, not hanging around the negative people at a tournament is very good advice too. It can affect your attitude and performance.
