Funny-ish.

I was wondering about what the non USA would think of the VA mountains. Theyre gettimg the full view.

Oh, America. Why do you do what you do?

Well seeing as how you took the trouble to start a teaser thread, why not go ahead and tell the story the eyewitness told you?

Ain't nothing else exciting happening around here...
I was told Thorpe went full racist drunk again, got escorted out of the building and tournament, just like the last time which lost him his sponsorship with a major cue company. I understand how pool goes, we’re a close community in some ways, but trying to sweep a problem like that under the rug just enables the person with the problem. I hope he gets help. I came from an alcoholic home, I know how it goes, but I didn’t follow that path.

I didn’t hear any racist stuff. He was just drunk as a skunk basically and being loud the whole day, and finally got escorted out. I was 5’ away when he got taken out. I didn’t want to write anything as better to just let it go. Im
Only writing to say I didn’t hear any racism with my own ears.

I second this. Was standing right there. Was just very drunk and loud and disrupting matches… did not say anything racist or personally attacking anyone that I heard…. Was just asked to stop drinking multiple times and continued to drink….

Seems like a decent guy when not drinking… got some demons….

Maybe we should just delete this thread since it's not true about the racist comments. I'm going to report the thread.
This is what I mean when I said that the pool community sweeps things under the rug. I only relayed what I was told from another person within earshot. If it’s inaccurate, I’ll be the first to admit it. The drunk part is still just not a good look for the pool community, and yet another reason it’s gonna remain a back alley sport in the US. Unless the Europeans continue to take it over and make it respectable.

That’s probably fair…. Don’t get me wrong, He was very loud and disruptive and barking at people to gamble etc…. But nothing race related
Woofing at people to gamble is one thing. That’s what we all do. It’s a trademark of pool. Nothing wrong with that, at all. We have whole fb pages for that very purpose. It’s a good thing. Maybe by saying it was “racist” the person that relates it to me meant that he was only directing it at one certain race, namely the Asian players.

Okay, but you propagated a rumor inaccurately labeling him a racist. I'll go with iusedtoberich and hithedndraw since they were right there.

I only repeated what I heard, which is what you’re doing. Same difference. If neither of us were witnesses, all we can do is choose to believe who we want. Doesn’t make one wrong or right, short of video and audio. After seeing the original proof from the first incident, however, I’ll believe who I want to believe.

Okay, but your source is unknown. Iusedtoberich is a known and very reliable member. I take everything he says to be 100%!!

Actually, finding help is very easy these days. Admitting that you need it, and asking for it, are very different.
👍
Exactly. The problem is, sometimes the pool world has enablers that try to sweep things under the rug, versus getting things out in the open to be addressed and get some help. The first step is admitting it. The second step is deciding to do something about it.

I never questioned anyone’s reliability. What I question is, how accurately did they hear EVERYTHING that was said. Were they there the whole time? Did they hear every conversation? Did they hear every syllable uttered by someone who needs help? Or, are they trying to help the pool world not get another black eye by another unnecessary incident that makes pool and Americans look bad? Who knows? Opinions are like agendas are like, well, you know. My point is, if we as a community keep hiding it and making excuses for it, will he ever get the help he needs? I came from an alcoholic family, and I know for a fact that alcoholism lots of times starts away from the home, but eventually makes it home.

It's funny when people claim this is the sort of stuff that's holding pool back when it sadly, may be -- the exact opposite. Characters drive the narrative and get the clicks.

These sorts of issues don't hold back the game, they just hold back the player.
