Being ripped-off by Cuephoric... I hope not

Just popping in to say that the police would definitely be interested in this. It's a felony...actually probably a couple felonies stacked!

sucks you got ripped off.

I play at The Jointed Cue and Hard Times in Sacramento (when in the area) ... Elk Grove is only a few miles South of The Jointed Cue ... I'll ask all the guys I play with in those two places if they have any info on him ... If so, I will post it here ...

Oh, and did I mention ........ I hate a f***in' thief !!!!!

Troy,

I'm really sorry to hear what you've experienced here. The facts are pretty straight forward, and I'm not going to pass judgement on the situation. All I'm going to say is that I'm really surprised and dissapointed based on the experience I had with Shane. He drove 600 miles with 2 pool tables to deliver them to me, FOR FREE, without any cash up front... before we had even met or had any previous transactions. It was one of the most selfless transactions I've ever experienced. I'm sorry that your experience has not been the same. I spoke to him multiple times about your transaction while mine was going on, and he gave me every impression he was doing his best to get you the rack. Again, sorry for the way this unfolded and if I ever speak to Shane again I'll see what information I can gather.

In summary: I am NOT defending anyone in this transaction, just stating that I dealt with shane as a complete stranger and he went out of his way to help me out and go above and beyond what most would do. It appears he did mess this situation up real bad, but he is NOT someone out to screw everyone. He could've easily screwed me over and didn't. I hope that some day this has a happy ending.

I can't believe this person 'Shane' has not refunded your money yet. How can a person like this sleep at night...

anyone besides me thinks this deserves to stay at the top of the forum?

I am with you 100% but we are talking about Mrhoppe here and the amount is more than respectfull. He is one of the most reputable persons in here and we have to stand by him and his problem. Besides, fellow AZers that are trying to sell expensive cues are struggling to do so when potential buyers see such things happening to respectful members.

This is true. I've often thought of buying things off this and other forums but will NOT because there are too many scammers. Thats why I only deal locally were I can do the exchange from hand to hand. Hope everything works out for you.

Something similar just happened to me.. My incident was for $750, and it was painfull, so I can imagine your frustration. Good luck dealing with this s... I got to say that thanks to the help from the members of this forum I got my money back.
Deals like this are going to make it such that unless you have hundreds of transactions, with a good track record, its not worth the gamble to just buy something from any member.

Agreed.....this type of thing needs to be out there because it needs to be clear who is good to deal with. No idea why he chose this sale to go sour on. Family issues are something we all deal with, but we don't close our businesses because of them most times. I would have a hard time giving someone who does this my business.

Mr. Hoppe,

I hate to see a fellow collector get burned.

Have you contacted the Elk Grove police department?

I think his billiard operation is just a home based business.

Chris

Thanks to everyone for your support. I've been in touch with a couple of guys very close to Shane and we're starting to get some movement on this issue. One guy told me that Shane has already sold the rack to someone else . . . for less than half the price than I paid. So it's gone now, but I would be happy just to get my money out of this one. Another one of his friends told me that Shane thinks that Paypal got everything squared away. I just don't understand how Shane could think that when I'm still leaving him messages on a weekly basis saying "call me so that we can get this taken care of."

Anyway, Shane left me a message today for the first time in about two months. I'm going to return his call and see where this thing goes. And Tate, as far as the police department goes, you better believe that will be the next step in this journey.

Thanks again to everyone!

To all:
I'm happy to report that Shane and I have worked out a payment plan to make things right over time. If we're able to stick to it, then this will be behind us in no time. :)

Get it in writing. Signed.

Bad practice either way. Mr Hoppe you went way out of your way to make this right.
