IMHO if you step into a shot it encourages you to lean too far forward...I do more of a lower myself into the shot kinda thing.

Can you please explain this poll? It seems like there should be more options. I use a combination of both.

I used to be a bender. After reading several different posts on this subject here on AZB I decided to try stepping into shots....which I found to be benificial....especially the longer shots.

Its one of the MANY little things that I have learned here that has my game moving in the right direction (I think).

While some shots require just bending do the CB position on the table,I vote stepper....For those who havn't considered it,give it a try.

I feel stepping into a shot gives your body better alignment with the shot. I've recommended this approach to learning players and they've all commented on how much it helps there accuracy.

I like to stand on line and step with the leg under the hand holding cue. I then start bending over and moving the other leg into position.

both, step in first then go down, Billy Cardone really goes down slowly a few strokes then he gets lower then a few more strokes then down lower, he is very deliberate in the way he gets into shot, there is some video of him Youtube or propoolvideo.com i'm sure of that. I dont do what he does but how he does it is interesting.

Right now with my back problems I do what ever is the least painful, but before that I line up, then step in and go down hinda at the same time, I never go down until i'm lined up. One thing I have learned this past year is i'm not hitting the CB where I need to-thats the cause of most of my misses. Since I have had real bad back problems I started to really pay attention of why I'm not playing good as I could, my stroke is fine, I see my target and "Spot" on the OB i just cant hit the CB right, I would recommend to line up then bend over, seriously look for some video of Cardone, its a very interesting method he uses and he is a champion.

I don't get it.....

You should step into the shot and then bend over it...
It not two different things.

both. its hard to shoot if u dont bend over. and u should always step in

btw i though the thread said bend over AND step in. I though it was something totally different.:)

what kind of hustling moves-stances

I use the length of the cue, behind the cue ball,(right foot goes directly under the butt of thr cue) and step in and down. keeps eyes, body in aligment. I like upright snooker stance as well. Give him (credit for giving the weight) to get the match, action going-seems he needs more pract. under pressure, his steel balls from the internet- were hollow. Most guys make the women play even, they all need a handicap in my opionon. thanks for the free-shot action report guys(12 people watching all at one time. thanks thanks thanks jcin. mark

What:confused:

Same with me.. When I'm playing well, it seems I get a little farther away from the table to look at the shot. Then, I step in while bending over. Definitely step into the shot though.

As others have said, it's not two different things. You have to step in before you can shoot; how else will you get to the table, crawling? So stepping in is not a choice, it's how you get to the table. Then you bend over, unless you've got an old-school upright stance. Neither one is a matter of technique; it's a simple matter of if you want to be shooting at a pool table in a bent over position, first you step to the table and then you bend over.

What he said.

Personally, I think that stepping in before bending is extremely advisable for purposes of body alignment.
