sorry this is so long....

I know that many of you on here know Tony Sulsar, a phenomenal pool player, and a really great guy from here in North Texas. He has been all over and many of you may have played him in one tournament or another. I thought that I would post this in several places so that hopefully everyone that knows him will see it.

Tony was diagnosed last week (at the age of 37) with Colon and Bladder Cancer. He underwent what was basically emergency surgery on Monday of this week at Wilson N Jones Hospital here in Sherman Tx, The surgery went well, his spirits are high and the prognosis looks good but he still has a tough road ahead with Chemo and Radiation therapy. . Tony is an extremely private fellow and will probably kill me for doing this but we as his friends feel compelled.

We will be having a Benefit 9ball Tournament for him on March 28th at Luke's, a pool hall here in Sherman TX (details to come)

We are hoping to have lots of stuff to auction(silent) and raffle tickets for prizes, as well as most if not all of the money from tournament entries. He does not have insurance and will be off of work for quite a while. And as you can imagine, his medical bills will be extreme. Not to mention the regular bills that will be stacking up while he is not working.

Anyone that knows Tony will tell you that this couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it (while running out the set on you )

We will be raffling off a few items in the "raffle" section of the Wanted/For Sale section of AZ. One item we have is a really nice Hunter Classic Cue with an I'ts George case donated by his good friend Doug Winnett(Bullshooter69). Please watch for those and if you feel inclined, help us help him by buying some spots for these items.

Also, if anyone has anything that they would like to donate to this cause.... cues, cases, accessories, or cash.. pretty much ANYTHING that would help raise some money to offset his expenses, we would be forever indebted to you.

You can contact me here or my email is john@radiovisioninc.com. A bank account has been set up in his name for this purpose and we will also have a paypal account so raffle money and donations can be made directly to him.

Just so you know 100% of everything we raise is going to Tony,

Thanks for any and all help! if you have questions about any of this, feel free to call me. My cell number is 903.821.3738 Please keep him in your prayers.

Sincerely
John Plumlee

Tony is a great guy and I had no idea..I will do my best to be there..Tell Tony and his wife that are prayers are with their family..

My best wishes.....

Hey John! Please send my best wishes to Tony! I would ask you to give him a big hug for me but I know how you "guys" are!! =)

Tony really is one of the nicest men I know and my heart goes out to him and his family. I know that Ann(e) is taking very good care of him so that, in itself, and knowing he has a TON of support is a comforting thought.

I will try to see if there is anything I can find to donate to his cause. If you can think of anything else that I can do - please DO NOT hesitate to let me know! I am pretty sure that I will be going to the next OB Cues Tour stop in Austin at the end of the month. If I should do well I will donate my winnings (minus my expenses) to Tony.

I will definitely try to make the Benefit in March as well!!! Good lookin' out John!

Sincerely,
Amanda

Amanda, umm... I don't know how good of care I'm giving him when I haven't taken a shower in 2 or 3 days.

I'll give him that hug for you! (I'll take the shower first since I'm home for an hour or two)

Bump back to the top. Who"s comin to Sherman. This is going to be a great event. Come on out everyone for a good cause.

List of players

We need to start a list of players that plan on attending this benefit.

I'm gonna play, Charlie! :D I just spoke with James Helms, he's planning on it.

Tony wants to play but we're not sure if that would be kosher. :) Anyone know if he can play or will anyone have a problem with him playing? Other than his doctors, that is.

Update on Tony

I called Tony yesterday too see if he wanted to get out of the house before he goes house crazy and kills Ann or Ann kills Tony, kind of a toss up because both needed a break. I met them at Luke's! Tony has lost a little weight as expected but looks good over all and in good spirits. He still kicked my butt in pool, but I think I can take him in a wrestling match or a foot race.

He's looking forward too get back in the game and seeing everyone.

Sign up list

From what I'm hearing Dallas players want too run a separate tournament so they don't have to drive too Sherman. The extra money raise will help of course, but it not just about money. Money has never healed anyone's illness, spirit, or moral. Friendship, showing that you care, and love can go a long ways too boost an individuals healing process. I thought that's what a benefit was for was too show love and caring too someone.

Just my opinion! Maybe I missed the meaning of this benefit.

Now, who is coming, I need too know so my wife will know how much food too prepare.

I will be there...

I have been telling anyone who will listen that it is very important for this tournament to be in Tony's backyard.

I think a tournament in Dallas would probably draw better, but I think it is a very small sacrifice to make a trip to Sherman for a friend, teammate or even just a fellow pool player who needs some emotional as well as financial support.

By going to Tony we show that we are willing to put aside what might be more convenient for us to do what is right for someone else.
