I hope you don't play the horses. IMO there are quite a few listed there Morra would beat in a race to 100 by quite a few games.
Agree. Very poor capping. Johnnyt

I wouldn't mind 30-45 second shot clock. I think 40-45 seconds is plenty of time to make sure there isn't slow playing. I don't know if it will happen because he wants to play 10 ball rack the 10 on the spot which I have never heard of. I offered to play magic rack 9 ball, 9 on spot 9 ball, 10 ball, or even 8 ball. I wasn't disrespecting John when I asked to play. If I ask Shane or Efren to play it isn't saying I'm going to kick your ass, I'm just asking to play if anything it's friendly. I respect him and his game. I think he's definitely one of the top 5 North American players and for sure the best Canadian players besides Alex P. Looking forward to playing, hopefully soon.
It looked like you were calling for the 8, 9, AND 10-ball on the spot, but maybe you just meant 9-ball on the spot.I will play John Morra a race to 50 for $50,000 even 10 ball, 8 ball, or 9 on the spot at the new pool room Mark Griffin opened in Vegas. I can play whenever but probably best time for me is during the U.S. Bar Table Championship since I'll already be there. Someone please let John Morra know.
SVB
Alex P
Dechaine
Dennis Hatch
Rodney
Archer
Earl
Corey Deuel
Bergman
Woodward
John Schmidt
Larry Nevel (if he had a strong mental game he'd be top 5 in country)
oscar D. (close)
Jason klatt
Sossei (slight edge to Morra) maybe
These are all players I would bet on if they played Morra. And half of them are past their prime.
P.S. John Morra gives everyone on my list the 5 out if it comes down to walking like they have a turtle head poking out.
I think you forgot Orcullo. Sorry, just realized you guys were talking about North America. Orcullo was here a lot last year though
You'd reckon to lose with a few of those bets.
Klatt? Are you kidding? Morra's resume might be closer to that of Alex than that of Klatt. Morra had a top five in the 2015 WPA World 9-ball Championship and beat Van Boening in the final of Super Billiard Expo 10-ball this year. It took one of the worst rolls I've ever seen to deny Morra the double hill rack of the DCC nine ball final in 2014 against Van Boening. Morra has some very high finishes in some very big spots and beats the big names often --- not so for Klatt.

I cant even pick... either one would rip the other apart on any given day.
Super awesome if I could watch it though (hint hint to streaming community)

I wonder why is it that so many people spell his name Orcullo? I always thought the correct spelling of his name has been Orcollo. Sorry for the off topic question.
Why does this discussion include players that relocated here from Europe or Asia?
When it comes time for the Mosconi Cup or World Cup of pool, none of them can be chosen for the US team. So, they should not be included.
Sorry, this has gone way off the original topic.
I agree for the most part. I'd move a few names around here and there depending on whether it was rack your own or a neutral racker.big tbl, winner break, shot clock
tier rankings in no particular order
TOP DOGS: SHANE, SHAW, ALEX
KNOCKIN ON THE DOOR: BERGMAN, DECHAINE, MORRA
BEWARE OF: MIKA, DARREN, TOASTY, KIAMCO
DYNO DABBERS: RODNEY, EARL, OSCAR, ARCHER
STOCK IS RISING: HALL, ROBERTS, THORPE, SOSSEI, SKY
DON'T OVERLOOK: SCHMIDT, COREY. NEVEL, VILMOS, HATCH
early on in this thread someone said MORRA was a top 5 NORTH AMERICAN (includes non-citizens who are playing here) player (with which i agree) and someone else said there were 15+- guys that were better so some lists were made.
why would you think it had anything to do with the Mosconi Cup, World Cup or an athletic supporter?
MERRY CHRISTMAS, adam
I just do not understand why when someone asks something like "who are the top 5 players in the US or in North America", the European and Asian players are included, just because they happen to be currently living here. I only mentioned the Mosconi Cup and World Cup to try to prove my point, that the pool world still considers those players to be European (so they could be chosen to play for Europe, but not the US), even if they have been living in the US for a long period of time. They are still considered European though, and a European player has never played for the US team (correct me if I am wrong), so why when asked who the top 5 players in the US are, the Europeans and Asians are included (just because they currently live here)? They play for their own countries (not the US or Canada), so they should not be included in the discussion (of who the top 5 or top 15 North American players are).
"Not so" for many of the names that the person noted on their list, right?
