Best and Worst Pool Hall Food?

Guess I have to put in a word for Danny K's in Orange, CA. Full menu, pretty decent food and good service. I always enjoy an evening spent at Danny K's.

As was previously mentioned, Hollywood Billiards is A OK also.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

Actually, I played at Snookers a while ago for a NEWT stop. I remember it being a fun room with good food. Does Nicole Mancini ever come any more or did she quit completley?

Nicole hasn't played in the NEWT tour in years. She was fun, too!

My vote has to go for The Columbia Billiard Center in Columbia, MO.
They have a complete breakfast, lunch & dinner menu.

That brings up a good point, OHB. You would think that more rooms would have a breakfast menu. With the weird hours of most players, they like breakfast at times when others don't. And I don't think I have ever met a player that didn't enjoy a good breakfast. I don't mean the bagel and fufu thing, either. Eggs, bacon, grits, sausage. I love a good breakfast menu and the Waffle House down South is about the only place to go. Especially after 10am.

college billiards in s.d. calif used to have excellent hamburgers and even had a spagetti dinner tourney every thurs night.years ago bakers in tampa fla had great food.

That's a good thought Mike. And as I'm sure that you know, there is real good profit in breakfast food.

Some good ones

Hollywood Billiards ... pretty pricey though
Chattanooga Billiard Club -- newer one.
Tables Stakes -- Denver Co

Whereever Doug James wife or exwife was having a tournament. When they
were together she always made homecooked meals for the events that were
very good.

Depending on how your doing at $300-500 a game...........................
Monroe's Hotdogs. If your winning they are pretty good.. I wonder if the man
still plays??

Maybe not the worst but I know of a pool bar (not pool room) that
closes the kitchen everyday right about the time 60 or so league players
show up. Not a big crowd before hand either and they let a guy come in selling Pizza'a while not getting a cut. Certainly a decision for the worse

Best poolroom food I've ever had was at Chalkies in Indianapolis. Next best was at Snookers in Providence, RI. Sad to say, most poolrooms here in NYC don't have kitchens.

Babineau's in Raleigh, NC. Paul's wife handles the cooking, and as someone else commented on a room, there are non-pool players who go there just for the food.
(Great people there as well)

I do not know whether u still have that cook with out fingers on one hand.He was a very good 9 ball player.Babineau`s is actually in Cary.

I agree, Amsterdam's "food" really sucks.

Try downtown at Corner Billiards, full running kitchen and bar. When they make their burgers and pizza, the whole hall smells awesome!

Rhinos in Eastgate Cincinnati has great food. Also as Fred mentioned, Airway Billiards in Dayton has super food (especially the homemade soups) and I have many fond memories of the great chicken wings and homemade pies Dottie Starcher used to provide her customers at Starchers in Akron Ohio.

I won't go into all the bad food I've had in over 2 decades of practically living in poolrooms all over the country.

just more hot air!

Corner was my main room when I lived in NY. I know they recently renovated and expqanded the cafe. I don't think I will check it out though, next time I'm there, I kind of like remembering it the way it was.

> I will second the suggestion of Starcher's in Akron, now called Doc's Action Billiards South. The wings there are about as good as they get,but NOT for the faint hearted or weak stomached. I eat habaneros regularly and these things had me sweating like Michael Jackson in court. JOB's in Nashville also has pretty good food. To me,the best poolroom burger in the free world is at High Pockets in Memphis. A food critic that writes for the Commercial Appeal, the Memphis paper, voted it the best burger in town 3 years running. This would be followed closely by the Barry Burger at Q-Masters. Tommy D.

microwave burrito anyone??

The best I had was a little juke-joint in Marietta called the Warm Spot (feel free to jump in with any jokes/puns). They made a freshly-patted, 1/2 lb cheeseburger with all the trimmings, that was "ta dye fa!". Long, lightly battered, seasoned curly fries and cold, I'm talkin' COLD beer. Now, that's what I'm talkin' about! Sadly, a Mickey-D's now sits on that location. Life blows.

Gotta run to get my cholesterol checked. Later dudes y dudettes.

I remember a bar like that in NYC, in the west village, the best burgers in town and that was all they made, no fries...just the best burgers in town. No pool table though....
