Best Attitude

ALL of the above are good choices for best attitudes after a tough loss. Hemmah, Robles, Davis, TK, Ralf, Efren all will get my vote. Never a murmur out of them, just a handshake to the winner.

But my vote here has to go to Tony Crosby. He had just suffered a crushing loss in the Desert Shootout last week, and was relegated to finishing tied 9th-12th. Normally, after a player gets knocked out of a tournament, I will personally thank him and tell him where to pick up his check. Not this time. Tony came over to me first and congratulated me on running such a fine event.

He went on to say it was the first time he had played in a tournament I had run, and he thought I did a great job. I was delighted and surprised to say the least. At a time like that, to compliment me said a lot about the kind of man Tony is. This guy is one class act!

I've traveled with Hemmah for a while and have known him for years, his deamanor doesn't change in private he never says anything bad about the matches or his opponents after a loss. He is a true professional and I strive to attain the attitude he has, Dave is one of the few all-around great guys.

This is more of a question... Alex P. seemed to always take his losses with dignity in the matches I have watched him in. I know he is an emotional player, so I am not sure if that is the norm for him or not.

in action i would vote for Chris Bartram...

in tournaments I would say The Kaiser.

I would say Danny Harriman. He gets grief on this board sometimes, but I'll always remember that great shot when he was hill-hill with Earl in NYC, and safed him beautifully. However, earl came with a miraculous 2 rail kick and made the ball and ran out to win the match. Danny just smiled and said something like "Earl's a champion, I'm never surprised!".

Another guy I would add to this list is Mike Zuglan. Always a great sport - I'll never forget the class he showed at the completion of Mike Sigel's 150 & out. Our game could use a couple of hundred more guys just like Mike Zuglan.

Quite a classy thing to do, indeed.

I just realized in reading this post that as it turned out, Crosby getting beat and placing 9-12th worked out ok as thats the last group that got paid (except for Saez).

7-8th got paid in cash also. Oscar and Corey, $1,500 each. Lucky dogs!
