best background music for shooting pool?

I can't help but get pumped up when someone goes and plays some Tool or Pantera or something heavy with a groove like that. Also love me some Rush, Dream Theater, Satriani, Vai, etc....

Yep, Floyd here also.

Creedence comes a close second but I can get a little too into if I'm not careful. If I'm strictly having fun and don't mind missing every now and then, Zepplin, Who, Aerosmith, Molly Hatchet, Nazareth, BTO, Van Halen (NOT Van Hagar!), Rush, ZZ Top, AC/DC, well you get the picture. Hard to play serious with most of the above going though. Kinda tricky taking aim with your foot tapping and your hips moving.

Anything bluesy works also.

Cheers,
RG

when my gf's and i are playing, we like something uptempo with a strong backbeat. so going back in ancient history, how about 'pretty woman' from roy o?

i'm sure that the wit and wisdom of the forum can do much better!

Agreed! All of the above.

I don't mind it reasonably loud, I kinda like it, personally. It lets me get into my own zone, and not hear the chatter around me. (Rabbit ears affliction, I'm afraid.) Good music makes for a good mood, good mood makes for better shooting.

I've even gotten to the point where I can tolerate some country music. I find it hard to believe that I actually admitted that. There was a day when I had nightmares thinking I'd wake up middle-aged, playing drums in a bottle-club, playing country music. Got the middle-aged part down, still play drums occasionally. Nothing country just yet... mostly old 60's/70's garage-band stuff. But my nightmare may just come true someday... :p

I'm not in love by 10cc an of course anything by Fleet Wood Mac. Hey Steve Nicks. Great songs an great for pocking balls.

Very good but you left out George Thoroughgood

Blues. I play in a blues club with a live band every night.....but you can hear both the music and each miscue because the pool room is at the other end of the building in its own little room. :D

Give me Clapton, BB King, Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Sonny Landreth, Albert King, Howlin Wolf, Robert Johnson, and throw in a little Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, Tool, Metallica and Floyd for flavor and shoot your brains out.
