yea and at the white diamonds tourney Gary was "supposed" to go for a thousand more than Bowman in the calcutta (lunacy) and whats your back up on that he's gonna beat Mcminn all the way in one hole? Who has he matched up with and when's the last time he snapped off a one hole tournament? Same as me hearing people think Mike Black can play Joey Gray even one pocket, must be somethin in the water down here.
I seen Shane and Joey both play super speed one hole, and beat guys like Gabe and Walden up in the midwest. Hell Joey just took second up in Olatha one pocket against Mike Banks Jr, Jose Parica and Brian Jones. Both of them can do well against Brian, and Brian is one of the best one hole players in the country. Shane just won the south carolina open not but a few months back. Joey won the 9 ball in olatha against John Gabriel, Jamie Baraks, Jose Parica, Chipper, Danny Harriman, John Morra etc and Shane shoots straighter than Joey does.
Tell you what if you want to find out I'll talk to shane and get him down here to play gary, Joey will play gary also and Mike Black if he wants some too. Shane plays with guys like Gabe and Brian Jones, if you put the best one hole players here in louisiana in line, and Brian played them it would look like the holocaust. Not to mention that McMinn probably is one of the most talented players walking the earth, if he nutted up he would be where SVB is and thats a fact. If you want another player to thow in the mix I'll even bring in Justin Whitehead to play anyone in the state in the rotation game of your choice. None of them are pros....lmao your talking about midwestern pool players that walk around like gun slingers thats all they do all of them, they breed them like that up there.
I'm tellin ya you wouldn't have wanted to see Tyler Strawn play when he was on, he died a few years ago and was only 19/20 and would have busted every player in Louisiana in 9 ball except Scottie, and I would have even bet against Jamie Farrell on that kid, was the straightest shooter in the midwest and thats one hell of a statment to be able to make about anyone much less a kid.
I don't say these things for my health, I just know facts I'm from here and have seen how everyone plays here and I lived in the midwest for quite some time and got to see all of them play too, and everyone here's out classed...theres nothing much going on here and it can't sustain great players...louisiana just ain't got it I'm sad to say cuz I remember all the stories my father used to tell about how much action and the caliber of players hanging out in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Houma years ago.
I will say this tho, John Lepartice who managed the old Tulsa Billiards Palace for years and years told me once that in the last 50yrs there was only a handful of players that tried to take on the city and didn't get busted, and Scottie Townsend was one of em. I knew Scottie and have seen him shoot many times, and know of many of his accomplishments and exploits. But when I think of him accomplishing breaking tulsa thats the strongest thing I ever heard him do. There's easily a hundred players in a 100mile radius around Tulsa that play better than Chris Miller, dozens that play better than gary and at least a dozen give or take that play as equal to or better than Jamie Farrell and then some. I'm talkin kids that are 13/14 years old that play better than Poor ol' Chris at white diamonds (love him puts on one of the best tourneys in the country) its a way of life up there that you only see in a couple places in the country.
Now I'm not running off at the gums either, I just got tons of respect for that area and how they support pool to be what it is there. It is what it is but argue if you must. I'd rather just get the crew down here and just show you rather than waste my time typing all of this because I know your sitting there thinking I'm off my rocker.
