I may have missed these 2 in the thread, but if we're talking about best ever (and I'm refering to playing with the mud ball too), you have to add Keith McCready and Scotty Townsand I would think. JMO
 
Mitch Ellerman is on a fast track to being the best BB player I've ever seen... He's young and still needs a little seasoning, but when he's hitting them, I think he's got the best pocketing skills in the game (reminds you of a young Earl - natural ability wise). He's not phased by the big guns either, just ask Parica, who he had to beat twice to win the 8-ball BB championship earlier this year.

Jay, you need to put your opinion in on this one. Best ever? What about Buddy, Bakersfield Bob and Mr Salazar?
 
SVB and matlock...well at one time anyway.

Shannon Daulton ran the most racks I've ever seen anyone run on a valley barbox at the JOB back in the 90s.

Archer is a hell of a barbox player too.

Not that I guess this is a huge thing, but....Its probably fair to differentiate play on a diamond barbox vs valley since they really are quite different.

How are you going to brag about Daulton running the most racks and not even state how many..???
 
Bottom line is there are a shit-ton-of-people that can put 6-10 racks together on a bar table. I've seen a very weak player run 2 on a bar table and can't make 3 balls in a row on a 9ft. Rather than ask who the best bar table player is, ask who breaks em' the best day in day out on a bar table. They ALL get out.

Agreed. The biggest thing with a barbox is having a great break, controlling the cue ball and having a little luck.

TAR has a DVD of Frost/Montal bar box 9-ball for $1K/man. Frost offered
Montal 2 games in a 10 ahead set. Starting from 2 games down Frost beat Montal in 48 minutes.

Frost should be considered. However, I beleive that If you put the same top 20 "bar box" players in a tournament every night for 1 week, would have a 5-7 different winners. That is just the way it works. Anyone of them can beat each other on any given night.

i totaly agree w/ you, but i gotta say that the same goes on the flip side for some people including me. I play good on the 9 footers b/c there's room to move (assuming we're talking 8ball), you break big on a big table and everything opens up...you break big on a barbox and alot of times the balls fly out and cluster up again because the table's way smaller. one of the best quotes i've heard in relation to this was, "sure, these dinky table are smaller, but that just means an inch is that much more important." back to the topic at hand, best bar table player....i'm gonna say....weldon rogers.:rolleyes:
 
I would put at least 5,000.00 on James Walden against Justin on a bar box. Justin is a really good player...I just think Walden can outlast him...

not sure how they played but rumor has it clatterbuck didn't fair so well at the open against broxson
